Black Mantis Prototype

Like my buddy always says, "It's not how good you are, it's how good you look doing it.". The MOE may become my new M.O.

So much of hunting camo patterns and colors is based and designed around the humans eye and preconceived notion, it’s scary! Think like the prey, not the predator. When a deer looks up, what color do you think the trees look like? Blacks and grays! The beauty of the saddle is that we are just another limb on the tree to them. Movement will bust more of us each year than camo pattern will! That is where deer kick out butts, picking out slight movements. I’ve been in a tree in jeans and a bright red shirt (prepping a stand) and had deer at 5 yards and not know I was there because I remained still (and luckily had the wind in my favor) the black looks cool and will work just fine.

I’ve got cash on hand and could make it worth your wild lol. Seriously though on a side note i have to say your sewing from day one when you joined blows my mind its so clean. Kudos to you for your skill you definitely made diy saddling a reality with your input on the mantis style saddles!!

Thanks!!! I appreciate it!!

I really like it. The black kind of breaks it up, would be cool to incorporate some grey in there somehow too. Using different camo colors on different parts might mimick a camo pattern within the design.

Secrets......
not to hijack the prototype thread, (which looks great), but i have been waiting for someone to make a backpack for carrying climbing sticks. I created one of my own out of a army molle rucksack frame which i cut down and my sticks fit directly to it with niteize. The problem i ran into was that although it was amazingly comfortable, lightweight, and awesome, the shoulder pads made alot of noise, so that slowed me down. Not sure why. Still toying with it. But i am sure that a man with your resources and skills could probably create something cool, the pack needs a tough frame tho fro sure. OKay, back to the prototype...

Can't wait until next year as I'm sure Tethrd will be introducing a few more options so they can offer a full package. It only makes sense for them to sell climbing sticks and backpacks too.

What do you guys think of the black? Love to hear your feedback!

That color combination is great! I personally like it better than the current Mantis color scheme. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems like all the safety harnesses are black and they sell off the shelves!
Personally, I don't like black straps on a tree, they stick out like a sore thumb. I used to lightly spray paint Lone Wolf straps gray/green to dull the shiny solid black.
That being said, you can pick out another hunter's location with ease if he's using black straps.
The black Mantis looks great! I'd wear it, no problem. ;)

Honestly I think the stick market is wrapped up with dans sticks. Don’t know what else you could really do to get a decent market share without issues with his patents.

I’m hoping for a tethrd fat boy platform. A little beefier than the predator and a bit bigger. Like the predator, just a bit worried now about when I have to bust out the size 15 aeroheads.

Actually I would pay extra for it to be labeled fat boy on mine. Would be pretty slick.
