I’m interested to know how and what some of you fellas are using while saddle hunting. Especially interested in the type of holster and how you locate your weapon for easy access.

Here in NY you can not legally carry your handgun while bowhunting ... I know it sounds crazy but that is the rule. During rifle I do not feel the need to carry. When I have brought my handgun while bowhunting (before I found out it was illegal) I would leave it in my backpack front pocket.

I carry bow hunting in Va. I pocket carry most of the time. Not worried about bad guys in the woods, just lions tigers and ooh my.

With the saddle I may have to go to a under shoulder or chest strap.

I pocket carry a single stack 9mm some times and all the time on public land.

I use a hill people gear kit bag, too. Holds my gun, rangefinder, grunt call, screw-in hooks, etc. Pretty handy to have that stuff on your chest while your climbing.
