Does the Archon has leg strap buckles? If so, are they also Cobra buckles like the waist belt or are they using the same small buckles that were on the Cruzr XC leg straps?

The review I watched didn’t have any on it but since it is a g hook removable leg strap, I wouldn’t think they would spend the extra money on actual cobra rated buckles because no matter what the leg straps can’t be load bearing if using a g hook for attaching them. If they had used a load bearing tri glide, then maybe cobra leg buckles would have made more sense.... perhaps they used the non rated fashion buckle by Austria Alpin? maybe someone else would know? Lol now you have me curious because the online pics look like the same buckles as my xc

It has G hooks. I really do not like G hooks at all so I ended up sending it back. They did offer to make me a custom Archeron with Austri Alpine buckles though, so that is also an option.

What do you identify as the “non rated fashion buckle by Austria Alpin”?

Thanks everyone. I have two 1 inch cobra buckles that are dual adjust. If I buy one, I might send those to them or request the leg straps be made fully load bearing (no g hooks).

I need lower back support and have a Cruzr XC and a Tethrd back band, but I don't use the back band much. I was thinking the 2 panel would split the difference (input?).

I like my stuff a certain way I guess. The g hook is just a little fussy to me, but I am far from normal! If I remember correctly, they had the capture g hook, which I REALLY don't like. If it takes 2 hands just to unhook, too much fuss.

Yea, I’m not a fan of the latching style g hooks either. I prefer the smaller ones by ITW and a tighter connection loop so they are less likely to come lose. Raptor buckles are strong but they tend to make noise on leg loops unless you pull them snug which I do not. So for weight savings and noise, I prefer small g hooks. All of us have different likes and reasons for the things we like

So far, the latching G hooks are about the only thing I don't like about the Archon. Those things are a pain in the backside. I like everything else about it.

I will say that’s the only thing I wish was easier to manipulate. But the saddle itself far out weighs the inconvenience of the g-hooks and I’m sure there are DIY ways to remedy the problem.

I personally like g hooks, as long as they are not the locking gate style. If you have to remove a spring hook to release the g hook, you might as well use a buckle
