It is very common to have stiffness when you bend or when you lift heavy weights especially in women and people often tends to ignore the sensation unless it disturbs your daily activities. Ayurvedic treatment for back pain aims atr finding the root cause of the pain and a complete study will be done to analyze se the reason behind the pain. In Ayurveda, the age of the patient, weight, diet, sex are all taken into consideration when a treatment regimen is decided for the patient and mode of treatment and medicinal ingredients all vary according to their body chemistry. Sometimes when the pain is of sudden onset some take over the counter drugs and they are effective for immediate relief but it is always beat to treat the pain as it can always return the next time. When medicated oils are applied and internal ayurvedic medicines are consumed the pain is treated both internally as well as externally and tis will ensure the patient that it will never return. One main issue to keep in mind while panchakarma mode of treatment is adopted is that the patient must have food that are not too spicy or salty and in limited quantities too. To eliminate the unwanted toxins medicated enema will be given and as purgation also play a role in digestion and toxin accumulated irregularities are first corrected when the treatment is started. Often the pain subsides within a short span of time unless the cause of pain is due to an underlying condition.

Hi boyin
I don't understand the terms used in your post. I have gone to both chiropractors and osteopaths. I has been my experience that an osteopath finds and fixes any problems more effectively.
Seriously, something like yoga would benefit us all as we age but you didn't here that from me. It'll build strength, flexibility and balance. Now, if only Lulu would make camo tights!

Fawnzy.. I think you got tricked by a spammer that got through!

Kind of funny but also a good topic for discussion. The majority of back pain comes from a weak core, doing things such as situps is damaging to the lower back. Also, 9 out 10 times the pain is actually related to the legs, not the back.

You hit some great points here. I've had back pain and sciatica for 4 years now (and I'm 31). Went to some doctors and they didn't offer up anything that helped. Did some PT, that didn't really help. Found a chiropractor who specializes in something called ART, active release techniques. Rather than focus on all the cracking that you usually think of, he did a lot of stretching and putting pressure on different muscles. He also gave me a list of exercises to do ROUTINELY. I went to see him for a year, with him stretching me out every other week. My back was doing the best it has in a while since seeing him. I did slack off and didn't do the exercises as much as I should. Well I just started a new job and can't see him that often, so I really started doing the core exercises. The big ones that I notice helping the most are: doing 1/3 situps, straight forward and to the sides, on a 65cm exercise ball with a medicine ball on my chest and then kickbacks. My back is by far feeling the best it has in 4 years. Usually sitting kills me but since really starting the exercises I can sit much longer than I used to.

So much of our life is sedentary now. We were not built to sit around.

If only I didn't have to go to to work everyday and could just go hunting instead

Ok. In December I hit 240lbs. Today I'm down to 217 with a goal of 200 or less. At 240 I could only fit one pair of pants and could hardly twist around to wipe my own........
Today at 217 I finally fit comfortably into clothes I fit into in some time and range of motion and energy levels are way up. I also started a regular yoga regimen. My flexibility is way down and this year was harder climbing trees. I'm looking forward to next season.
If I reach my goals, I may just catch the deer on foot!

Keep up the good work Fawnzy!! :D

no doubt. Congrats on the weight loss. I went through something like it a few years ago. I know it didnt happen overnight, but it seemed like I just woke up one day and weighed 300. I might not have even noticed except my vision was getting very blurry and back hurt constantly. Today, I bounce between 190 to 220. I know it's a lot of up and down, but with my schedule, sometimes it's two weeks before I realize I'm not eating right and exercising. Back tends to act up when I get above 200 due to multiple compression fractures in spine from auto accident that never really healed properly. I know first hand how difficult staying pain free can be ( multiple knee surgeries, broken arms, legs, ribs, vertebrae, etc.) But when you gain too much weight , it compounds the problem. It's a daily struggle for me to keep below that 200lb mark. I lose that struggle often, but there's no way I can allow myself to get 300 ever again. I'm not sure if I could handle the pain and the fight to lose that much weight again.
So, my hat is off to you for taking off the excess. Good job

Thanks guys. There's too much I want to do in life yet to get bogged down. The number of hunters in my camp who have dropped out in their 60's because walking has become too hard is about 80% of the guys in that range. Besides there's still kite boarding and hang gliding on the list!
