Sorry for not replying everyone I didn't get any notifications and didn't expect this much interest. I've been busy with work and hunting. I will post up the "No Rope" weight soon after I make a few changes.

In response to the size question, yes. I plan to make it a bit smaller depending on how much rope one needs on there it has room to shrink. My buddy had very few issues/inputs on the one he used so I'm going to make a the few changes that are bugging me and I have another person lined up to test it out. After that I can make a few for members here if there is still interest.

Idea- not sure if anyone has mentioned this or not. sorry if I'm stepping on anyone's toes on this.

What about a small dog retractable leash. They come in 30ft I think.... Thoughts?

The retractable dog leash I have seen required the button to be pressed in order to release or retrieve line. If that’s the case for all retractable leashes could one be altered to lock in neutral mode while you climb? Since the release and retract are performed by simple unlocking of reel is the spring retrieve poundage too high? Would it allow a 7 lbs bow or rifle to stay in place on the ground when you’re climbing? Just questions that popped into mind at the idea.

I have a small dog leash at home. i'll check. mine tho only has a lock button to lock it at a certain point. but without that button it lets out and retracts.

Yes, some guys use them and like them. Search the site for dog leash and you’ll get some hits.

An alternative to the dog leash is an old automatic fly fishing reel - and those lock by default - you push a button/lever to retract. The retraction force is enough to pull the weight of the rope itself, but not a real weight - it's not going to pull your bow up.

Please consider selling the file for a donation or something for those of us who have printers but can't design.
