He actually said he hit exactly where he was aiming.

He got lucky and hit the femoral artery. That could have ended bad in 100 different ways. That is definitely not a recommended shot.

Yeah, him defending the shot didn’t make it better imo. Says something like “some people will say that wasn’t an ethical shot but sometimes you just gotta know the anatomy of a deer.” He may want to study that anatomy again if he thinks taking shots at deer walking darn near straight away from you and getting lucky enough to hit the femoral artery is a wise choice.
