I cant stand them and I make no bones about it, however, I dont mess with cams, I intentionally go around them in the woods. With that said, running surveillance on a parking area as a private joe schmoe is stepping way across the line.
 
Saw this and thought of your situation. Even DNR cams aren't safe.

If yours was a cell cam, when they turn it back on wouldn't you be able to receive pics and locate it too. When i paid for service on mine it showed me is location.
Unless they're just stealing them to throw away.

It allows me to monitor my vehicle in the event of vandalism/theft (yes it happens) and also gives perspective on the amount of pressure an area is getting. Stop acting like it's a bathroom.

Just keep in mind, as you logged in from your device using either your router, using your MAC address and IP address or your smart phone using Verizon or ATT, that every key stroke was logged, your device type is already known, your location was recorded (using a VPN or not).

Also, keep tabs as you drive around at every ring or similar doorbell with a camera that is recording you as you drive in your vehicle. Traffic cameras are around and individuals with dash cams are driving all around you and law enforcement is scanning your license plate whenever they want.

Good luck shopping in any large store using facial recognition at all times. Home Depot. Wal-Mart, your grocery store. Wave to all of them as you walk in the parking lot all the way through check out, especially in the high value item isles with the overt cameras.

Don't use your credit card or debit cards ever again also. Also tell everyone in your family to all turn off WiFi and Bluetooth and Siri or Cortana or any of that. Sell any smart tv you or anyone in your family owns. Any vehicle with Apple CarPlay or Samsung has to go also. Sorry. Don't contact any medical facility that will get your personal data. They won't share it. Promise.

Once all that is done, let me know and I will gladly explain to you in a professional, non confrontational conversation, what gives me the right to run "surveillance" on someone who just messed with my stuff.

Just remember. John Wick did it for a puppy. Everyone's puppy is something different.
 
Just a suggestion, download Lens from google and see what it finds. Think of the app like 'Picture this' where is takes the pic and finds the closest match on the web.

In this situation, it could match the face to a facebook page or some other social media account where it sees a match. Keep in mind apps like 'Picture This' and 'Lens' are not guaranteed fool proof, so you still have to do some homework if you get a match. But maybe at the very least you will be on a better trail.

I'll reply to you right here, no need for a PM, you could have done so and chose not to, you kept it right here, "professional and non-confrontational".

I install and service high end video equipment (among other "things") for a living. I'm incredibly aware, and connected to, how much intell the government, as well as private institutions, have about people. With that said, I don't need, nor do I want, to deal with that crap in my escape from it. You want to run cams in the woods, awesome. Running them on the public parking to do surveillance as if you are Johnny law is a large over reach.

Never wished for anyone's stuff to get messed with before, but I hope every single camera that is monitoring a parking lot gets jacked.

Parking lot is public area, so if you don’t want to be surveilled on public area then don’t enter the public.

I myself do not own even one game camera. The main reason is due to exactly the same reason as yours. To keep the spirit of hunting pure. I hate all the things I listed in my previous post and I can assume (dangerous), that the majority of hunters on here all have their line in the sand, or John Wick issue with technology and any type of surveillance. If it were up to us we would all want to be Jeremiah Johnson except our dang wives won't let us.

So I am in agreement with you. Sadly, I have to be hyper aware of all these things to the point of nauseousness. So if another forum member posts something requiring assistance, weather it's about a knot, a stick, an arrow or a camera, they are seeking responses. This is the internet, so responses will vary widely. My response was that if your property is being exploited, there are ways to exploit back using the exact same tactics. Not escalating it, which is also an option.

As for your John Wick comment. Please remember, you never really know who you are speaking to online. If you doubt me, watch the documentary "don't f with cats" on Netflix and see what average citizens with a computer are capable of. It's quite impressive. Then remember if they can do what the did, imagine what the pros can do with a game camera and a phone.

I hope my writing came off as non confrontational. I know tone cannot be interpreted through text. This is the last forum left full of good people and the last thing I want is an argument in a forum over technology. I apologize if it came across that way to anyone.

Seemed to be the case last I looked. I’m not necessarily for it, but also I’m certainly not aware of the laws preventing it.

There’s some obvious voyeurism related restrictions, but on the whole, restrictions on camera and video in public are from what I’ve seen surprisingly limited. Maybe I’m just not fully aware of this stuff.

We’ve some legal eagles, maybe they‘ve the general scoop to share.
