I’d like to mark the nylon strap every 3 feet (so, writing 3, 6, 9, 12, etc.) so that once I climb a tree I can see, based on my strap, how high I am.

I tried using different color sharpies but none of them made a visible mark on the strap. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to write on the black nylon strap?

Great idea. I'm going to try that too. I always like to know how high I really am.
Maybe superglue a small piece of colored electrical tape. or sew some threads into it.

I use silver sharpie on my bowstrings all the time. It does wear after a while but lasts a surprisingly long time.
