Dumped Deer...

Went scouting access points into a piece of public land last week with Scoutman. We weren't a 10 minutes into our drive around and rounded the corner to a large group of buzzards and noticed a dead doe in the bushes. After a couple minutes, we realized there was a second dead doe not 15 yards away. Both had been field dressed, but nothing else on them was touched. They had obviously been sitting for a while, with the freshest being at least a few days old and the other a week or two older.

I've heard of, and seen, poached bucks where only the antlers were taken. But, I have never seen someone take the time to field dress deer, only to dump them. (Especially not does)

Some people really make my blood boil.

What you saw was likely the remains of deer that some hunter boned out at home and then dumped the remains along a back country road to get rid if them. The local critters love it, the local folks don't.

Bone in, hide on, the ONLY cutting was a slit from sternum to just short of anus.

They were entire deer, minus the contents above and below the diaphragm. Literally two entire wasted deer.

I lost a hunting partner over this very thing years ago. He killed a small 6 pointer way back on some ground we leased and he dressed it and hung it in a tree to cool down. He hunted a different area the next day and that was the last day he was hunting. When another buddy asked him if he needed help getting that 6-pointer out, he said it wasn't worth going all the way back in there to get it. I told him that is not the way we do things around here and he said if you want it so bad, go and get it yourself. Total moron. That was the end of his lease membership.

Unreal.

Call me crazy, if I personally take something's life... I owe it to that animal to ensure it isn't in vain.

The way I was raised... you respect the circle of life, you respect the challenge of its instincts and intelligence, and most of all you respect the sacrifice of the animal's life.

Maybe it was part of an organ harvesting program... Deer hearts and livers for transplanting... JK... It is weird tho. My general stereotype of why people do stupid or bad things is b/c they are easier than being a respectful member of society. Taking the time to shoot, drag and gut a deer for nothing...? Weird.

I duck hunted with some folks that were like this...loved the killing, but cleaning and taking care of the animal once we got back was not their bag..."You want em?" Dang straight they can ride home in my truck anytime (that season is open LOL)

That is such a shame and disrespectful to the deer. That is crazy just wasting something when im sure whoever could have donated it to some unfortunate individual. Such a shame.

I bet it was poachers.

They gutted them but then they got spooked and scrammed.
