So you've gotta clean that area with as dry of a wet cloth as possible, preferably isopropyl alcohol wipes....then pick at it a little to see how thick of a patch it is....

Grind off the patch or cut a hole? The top side of that patched area is the floor of the boat. The flex seal idea above is sounding better all the time.
Is that the tail of the boat?

And did someone use grey silicone to fill that crack?

May not matter by the time today is over. Got 6 current tornado warnings in the state and 3 are tracking to pass either close or right here lol. Gonna be a fun afternoon.
Whoa, stay safe buddy!

Sounds sporting! And like you'll be spending more time with a chainsaw that doing fiberglass work.
No damage here at the house but Little Rock and Jacksonville where our air base is took direct hits. Went south of the air base but dead centered town. University Medical Center in LR has gone to level 3 for mass casualties. They didnt say deaths so I think it is for injuries.

Glade your okay. Checked thew news. Hope all you guys thru the middle of the states are okay.

Thanks. They downgraded the hospital level back to 1 so hopefully not as bad as they first made it sound.

If the patch is peeling up anyway don't waste ur time sanding it off....chisel and hammer or whatever tool u got to rip the old patch off. Anything spongy cut out.....a die grinder and bur bit make short work of it. Utubes for an hour or so and u be a professional... hehehe

I had never done any fiberglass work prior to rebuilding my canoe and was a little nervous but it's not difficult. If u ever been down to a boat yard and seen the caliber of humans that normally are fiberglass workers u would have more confidence. Getting everything clean and prep work is upmost importance.

Just remember even if u totally screw up it can still be fixed but u just might have to pay a little more

Hammer and chisel was my first thought to see how much would easily come loose. Honestly not overly worried about ruining the durned thing even though it is handy for fishing small water.

I still really don't see the need to grind or chisel anything off. If you clean the area really good with a semi moist rag then just sand the paint off around the crack and either I can mail you some good epon epoxy and some fiberglass patches or you could put any waterproof 2 part epoxy and it'd last quite awhile.
