First hunt in the guidos...

I shared the same pain that you do when I first started using mine however; there are some adjustments that you can make. I wear a RCH on ascent, then deploy the seat at that point, and this keeps the whale tail out of the way. I don't use the leg straps, in fact I taped them up so they are not flopping. I also take my shoulder straps off at the top of the climb for increased comfort. The only complaint that I have, which is the same with an saddle hunting. It is not the easiest thing in the world to relieve yourself. (The older you get the more imperative this can become as one cup of coffee suddenly turns into 10) It can be done, but it is tricky. Love my Guido in cooler weather. Comfort is hard to beat. I really wish that they still made the model like the older one like you and I have with the exception with the large game bag (see old guido's tree web video on youtube) so you could reach stuff out of the back easier. BTW if anyone has one like this in a M and is wanting to get rid of it I would be interested.

Yeah, I"m definitely going to have to do some experimenting in the off season. Just watched a bit of that video, yes, the game bag pack setup looks sweet!

I try to put them right in the crease of my leg & hip by adjusting the shoulder straps tight too. Mike

I had a Guidos about 7-8 years ago. I couldn't get used to it, I ended up selling for half what I paid for it.

I have a web and I think gun hunting is great in the web. Also I think using a crossbow in it would be easier than a vertical bow. If you don't go far so as to not sweat alot helps. I've not tried long hikes in yet but as stated before if you slow down as much as you can .....all day sits would be worth the effort. It's a matter of opinion to try.....if you own one. Wrap one up in a trash bag near the tree for a pre-set to keep from carrying it in. I own one and I'm keeping it for certain hunts for these reasons. Cold conditions make it shine!

I found tighten down the shoulder straps to be a must before the climb up or down. I rarely ever use the leg straps anymore. The only time I notice the tail is when using an aider. I love the web for all day sits or when the weather turns cold. During warm weather I use my Kestrel. I agree the pockets on the back just don't work, I ended up getting a fanny pack and wearing it forward for short hunts. All day hunts I just strap the web to my big pack and stop a few hundred yards from my stand and get ready.
