Wife and I got into an area. She’s in a ground blind. I take off over a ridge maybe 100 yards from her. I’m about 20’ up in a tree. 10 o’clock is coming up. I’m looking at another area to checkout. Off to my left this ole doe comes out catches wind of me and takes off. I holler at the wife over the radio watch your back. She said that doe didn’t slow down at all. I’m still looking at her direction and hear a twig break under me. I have a buck walking from my right to my left. Grab my rifle he’s headed behind some cover. I have a small window of a shot. I take it he takes off. I’m chambering another round. Didn’t hear a crash at all. It’s now 1030. I wait a few minutes and gone down to see if I can find blood and hair. Nothing at all. Now I’m second guessing myself if I hit him or not.
I look around and see something white and brown about 40 yards away. Now I’m excited. The bullet didn’t pass through took out 2 ribs heart lungs and 2 other ribs and stopped when it went to exit.
He was playing the part of a 5 point. Isn’t the biggest but it will help feed the family.
