Recently switched to oplux 8mm for my tether and went with the recommended 6mm that DanO sells for my hitch cord. I currently run the distel hitch. I climbed up a tree using carbon bolts and got settled in for the hunt. After about 7 1/2 hrs I decided to get down and go scout another area. So I started down the tree and found that 3 of my carbon bolts had fallen out! I could see them on the ground. Puzzled and thinking what am I going to do it occurred to .e I could repel down enough to get to the next one in the tree. Using my friction hitch that's exactly what I did. Saved my butt for sure. I looked in the holes that the bolts were in and they had filled with water and pushed out my carbon bolts. No clue what kind of tree does this but just wanted to share. Not sure if I'll ever go back to mechanical prussic. That experience sold me on my friction hitch choice. Happy hunting and be SAFE!

Always a good idea to have a path to the ground in case everything behind you falls down. That is why many people here rappel even though they are climbing sticks or steps.
