Ok guys,
I’m about to buy some Geckos, problem is I want the carbon fiber (so cool) but is it worth the extra money for a weight reduction of 0.6lbs? Or just get the aluminum ones

Thanks

I don’t think the money is worth the weight savings. Aluminum may flex slightly more too but that’s negligent for our purposes. They also make a steel ones now with the same design for half the price of the aluminum’s.

Before you spend the $ I would try to find someone that uses them and ask them if you can try them out. I do arborist work part time, but I would never use them for hunting purposes. That’s just my opinion.

I use gaffs ,used bashlin aluminum pole gaffs with basic t pads all this year ,probably hunted 100 days the amount of time you will be in them doesn't really matter what pad you have I gear tie mine to my predator I x my footbed over my post top and run one foot strap around and cinch it down ,its not worth the extra money to me ,just a show off factor

I love love love my carbon Gechos. But I can understand not wanting to spend the coin. I found them used and got a good deal. I love how light they are compared to my former aluminum spurs. They also fit my skinny legs better than the climb rights did. So that a huge part of it. They’re just sweet spurs.

I love my carbon kiwi’s! I went from steel Klien’s, to aluminum climb rights, then to carbon fiber kiwi’s. I would definitely make sure spurs are for you before you spend the money for carbon fiber.

Many Many days spent on hooks IMO Bashlin makes the best climbers on the market They have the most forgiving gaff angle in the industry. They are the choice of more lineman than any other for a reason

Understand, I’ve had aluminum ClimbRights and Kiwis. The Kiwis were so nice but with my calves I could barely buckle the straps- now I’m thinking about the Geckos. I like to climb with spurs when I can, have been one sticking and am happy with it, but want some options at other times and I miss the freedom of my spurs

I changed the straps on mine. I use a single 1.5” polymer cobra buckle. My kiwi’s are exactly 2lbs lighter than my aluminum climb rights were.

I actually wish that I wouldn’t have sold mine now and just done that too

I emailed the owner at kiwi before I got these, he said they should be back in stock in May. Kiwi uses titanium gaffs so they end up being a little lighter that geckos too.

Thanks. I could never figure out how to contact them (I’m one of three people in the US not on Facebook)

That plastic cobra buckle work well?

Might have to give Strapworks a holler then! Or just wait until May

Another here for kiwis. I’ve had both carbon geckos and kiwis. FOR ME the kiwis are way better.

I saw a comment earlier about problem with calf size

I have big calves

Would one of these be better than the other for big calves?

I was planning on kiwis eventually
