Has anyone else noticed a petroleum smell after this stuff dries? Sprayed 0.5% solution (1 Oz 10% permethrin to 19 Oz water) and after spraying it until wet and drying in the shade for 2 days and being washed with scent free detergent I can still smell it.

It does stink but I hunt with the wind so I haven't noticed any ill effects on seeing deer I've just experienced no ticks and reduced mosquitos! Sawyer smells less but costlier.

Some permethrin concentrates have petroleum distillates which give a strong smell. I'm not familiar with that particular brand, but that would be my guess.

That's what I use. Definitely has an aroma for the first couple of washings, but I haven't noticed deer reacting to it any more than they would to me...

Play the wind!

Ive used Sawyers for years. If I can smell it I know deer down wind can. Im going to try Elimitick cover cloths as soon as it comes in. Ill still spray my boots.

First off its made in China. It catches on briar easily but so far seems fairly tough. Im sure it will tear if you rip threw briars. After a few days of checkin out a tick, chigger, mosquito, and spider infested swamp I like the Elimetick. Some mosquitos got to my face but not terrible. No ticks or chiggers got to my skin. Naturally alot of spiders and webs in the face. I like it more than my coverall pre sprayed. I like I can just grab it and go.

I buy the concentrate stuff off Amazon and spray everything liberally. I make a gallon at a time with distilled water. It does have a smell after drying. More so than Sawyers but at a fraction of the cost. They say it last like 6 washes or so. I don't care and reapply after every wash. Overkill? Yes. But I know too many people with Lymes and would rather have treated clothes with a slight smell. I still kill nice bucks BTW.
