Anyone tried the Hawk Helium HSP platform? Looks reasonably priced compared to OOAL solo or scout and if your running Helium sticks it looks like a good option.

They also have a saddle and larger platform available.

I’ve been waiting for it to come in stock at midway cause I have some nickel and dime items I want and that’d get me into free shipping. Didn’t realize it was already available on hawks website.

Well I ordered on 10/4/20 from Hawk direct and received yesterday , 12/4. Luckily or unluckily, I still have a tag to use so I’ll be hunting with the Hawk Helium HSP tonight for its maiden voyage. Couple of things to note after install, it’s a little wobbly on top of the helium 30’ stick. The slide pins that come with should be replaced with longer screws. I don’t currently have any laying around. I’ll mod that out later. They also have a key ring as a stopper on the slide pin and creates noise. Nothing some Allen camo fabric tape can’t fix. Stacking sticks still works but you need to open the steps on the stick behind. Pic attached front and side profile.

There’s a good left to right wobble on top the stick I placed the HSP on. Not sure if it’s the HSP or the stick but the helium’s suck to take a part if you can’t line the plastic washers just right. I’m going to change it eventually when my hunting season winds down but I also bought the hawk apex and am liking that better. However the HSP is very convenient to have since you don’t have to take another piece of equipment and setup on the tree. I’m just going to figure out how to stabilize it either by using another stick or by other means. It’s cheap enough that it’s worth a try to make it work out.

Thanks for the update. I may give one a try, I’m sure I can figure out a way to make it a bit more secure. Thought about trying the Apex or a predator. I’m lazy and don’t wanna carry anything else lol.

Any feedback on the Apex?

I’ll write something up this evening so I can attach a pic or two.

I will say that I like this Apex platform and you do have to set it pretty tight to the tree to but once it’s set it was rock solid for me and it handles side pressure very well.

I am not sure if it’s my lacrosse aerohead boots or the paint but I had very good grip on the apex which I was concerned of at first. It was snowing and it did get wet so it handled well at the time.

It does have a leveling bolt which helped as the tree I was in had a lean but the bolt sits against a flexible plastic piece (below the yellow Vietnamese label.) That is probably my biggest concern at this point since I feel it’s going to crack or break at some time with extreme cold.

As far as carying it in I just looped a 12” bungee around it and attached to my sticks. No noise after attaching and a very dull metallic sound if they the platform touches the sticks when they first come in contact. I also placed a piece of tape to dull the noise in the center of the platform for when it comes in contact with the post. It may be unnecessary but it did make a difference.

I think it’s the cheapest full/ larger sized platform out there, so the price is a plus but if I gotta replace that plastic piece a few times, it may be worth spending the money on something more reliable. Only time will tell for that.

Did you use it this season? How'd it hold up? Kinda curious about it as the $ is right....

I wonder if the flexible plastic piece can be replaced with a metal plate for strength and then add some stealth strips to quiet it. Overall Like mentioned before, for that price it is tough to pass up. I would prefer a predator but availability and full retail price on the used market makes it tough. Thanks for the review.

I’ve had it for 8 days I did use it a few times thus far. 2 sits at 4 hours in 45 degree weather and 4 sits in the 20s around 3 hours each with some snow. So far so good. Just have concerns on that plastic plate at is all.

Have you spent anymore time on the hsp platform? I'll be getting a saddle and helium sticks for Christmas, and I'm trying to assemble the bare minimum I need to get up in the tree a few times for late season. $50 platform seems like a good budget move. What do you think?

I’m waiting on a new single helium stick from midway and then I’m gonna dedicate that stick to it and fix the teeter totter wobble before I use it again. Otherwise I’ve only been using my apex from hawk and I’m satisfied with that one
