I've see a lot of guys asking for feedback on the H2 and thought I could help. I bought a used H2 from a Run'n Gun member on Facebook a few months ago to try while waiting on my Flex. I sold the H2 later after getting the flex.
Thoughts/Notes:
- The H2 is basically the same height (low back to butt) as a size 1 Kestral or large Mantis. However, it is wider than both by about 4in.
- I didn't weigh it, but it was much lighter than the Flex.
- The workmanship was great, zero complaints about material quality or sewing.
- Mine didn't have leg straps and it never caused me a problem. However, I would recommend getting them. Safer and his attachment points are lower than most other saddles, a big plus in my opinion.
What I would change:
- The previous owner had switched the tied webbing bridge to Amsteel. In my opinion this is a must, not because webbing is bad, but because Amsteel is awesome.
- I did not like the linemans loops. They are plenty strong, but very "floppy". I'd really like to see them beefed up so they stay open.
- Personal opinion, but I'd like the height (low back to butt) to be a little longer. I've got large quads/rear and could use the extra "cupping", hence the Flex. (The Flex is the first traditional style saddle I've used that hasn't pinched the outside of my quads.)
- I'd like the waist belt to be a little less stiff. It and the buckle are definitely high quality, but adjustment was difficult with any weight on it.
If Heath would make those updates I'd buy another without a second thought.
