When I shoot my wife's bow with 450gr arrows vs my bow with 450gr arrows, mine penetrate significantly further. Probably more than double if I measured it. Same thing with my traditional bow.

I think a more apples to apples comparison for the Mythbusters test would be if they compared shotgun slugs with varying amounts of powder at subsonic speeds.

Wow....
I need to turn down the poundage of my old bow and try this....I guess I need to buy a bow scale so I know how much it's pulling

Same here. I have two Mathews, new VXR and my old DXT. New faster bow out penetrates almost every time. I assume the few times it doesn't is because the old bow hit a nice pre-existing hole or something.

Its been awhile since I've been on the forum but what's been everyone's results with their heavy builds? I got my first pass through on a fat hoosier doe a few weeks ago. Buried in the dirt about 10" deep, 5-10' past where she was standing after blowing through both shoulder blades. She went down 30-40 yds away.

They spoke of it in the podcast but I haven't seen it mentioned to much here on SH.....the doe I killed last season was a textbook broadside double lung. I had exactly what Dr was describing....lungs looked like jello and it looked all bloodshot like it was shot with a gun. It was raining when I was cleaning so I wasn't able to take any photos unfortunately

I had a younger friend shooting 35 pounds blow through a hog with a magnus stinger several years ago it was as lethal if not more that the grim reapers I was shooting at the time at 70 lbs

My wife had a complete pass thru on a hog shooting 34 pounds with a 23” draw. She was shooting a 4 blade slick trick with an arrow under 300 grains total weight so I guess not entirely relevant to this thread. It was a “smaller” hog.

I'm about halfway through before I had to get to work. Fascinating information so far. Well worth the listen to anyone really. Faster arrow, more resistance.... makes sense and I never thought about that. "There is something going on there." The Ashby Foundation is on cutting edge information. I really enjoy the aeronautical parallels regarding FOC.

I originally lowered poundage from 70 after starting to saddle hunt. I had some difficulty drawing in certain awkward positions so I started dropping draw weight. Arrow weight was increasing so 70pds wasn't needed. 40pds is "state minimum required" to "legally" bow hunt and I'm tempted to drop down to that.

Online cacumalaters are saying I'll have 8pounds of kinetic energy.....hahahahaha.... Can't even kill a squirrel with those numbers

560-585 TAW depending on broadhead, but will be 125-150 single bevel.
