I just purchased my first saddle kit from custom gear modifications. I am excited for it to arrive so I can start practicing with it. I am a long time climbing stand hunter. I hope I’m going to like saddle hunting. I tried a buddys homemade sit drag modification a little while ago and frankly wasn’t to impressed with it. I figured I would get a decent saddle and give it another try. Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome from West Michigan!! Lots of great info, and people here! Try the search function for questions, but don't be afraid to ask for either!

Are you hunting public or private or a mixture of both? Have you figured out your climbing method/ methods yet? I saw where you said you came from a climbing stand background. I did too, and lock ons.

I hunt on a hunting club. We have some areas where you can walk in a long ways to get away from pressure. I’m hoping the saddle setup will help me to get into those areas without a lot of weight. The saddle I bought comes with the 2TC climbing method. I have received my saddle kit yet so I don’t know if I will like it or not, but I’m going to give it a try. What’s your climbing method?

I have adopted 2TC this year and really like it. I used 4 Lone Wolf full length sticks with an aider last fall. I can climb twice as fast with 2TC than I could with sticks and it feels safer to me. Also, the 2TC weighs less than a pound. I use a ring of steps too. Here is a picture of my 2TC kit next to my climbing sticks. It's easy to see the advantage.

That’s awesome. I hope it works well for me to. I like the idea and the light weight.
