Hello from northern Wisconsin. I can't sit in a climber or a tree stand due to sciatica pains. Figured I'd give saddle hunting a go this year. I have about a dozen sits so far this year and really love it. I stand untensioned most of the time, but being able to lean back into my saddle a few minutes each hour to give my feet a break is awesome and has allowed me to continue hunting both mobile and elevated!

Since I use the platform like a treestand, I bought the biggest one I could find. I'm using a Mission platform. It's great.......... until I put on my muck boots! Does anyone know of a signficantly larger platform?

Lots of good info on this forum. It was invaluable in helping me get set up.

Welcome from West Michigan!

Have you looked into a hybrid set up? Lots of people are using LWCG .5/.75. Doesn't have to be a "saddle" platform

Pretty sure at least one guy uses his climber base

I have definitely considered taking a regular tree stand and possibly cutting it up a bit, so its somewhere between a treestand size and platform size!

This has been one heck of a warm fall, so might need even need the winter boots this year

How big is a ridge runner XL compared to a mission?

Looks like they are pretty close in size with mission being a couple inches wider. Just checked facebook marketplace and there's no shortage of cheap tree stands!

I have sciatica issues too and my saddle is definitely an improvement over a stand. I vacationed in northern WI this past winter and loved it BTW.

Welcome from SW Michigan! Someday I’d like to get out your direction and hunt some public land.
