With only a 2 mallard limit, this is the first year ever I can say I've limited on mallards every hunt. 5 total hunts thus far. Tomorrow is our last day and this morning scouting I didn't see very many ducks flying at first light so I may break that streak tomorrow

Late to the thread but I lived the duck hunting live for years. My first 4 seasons of the Arkansas 60 day season I hunted 30+ days each year. Member of a club with private fields, woods, etc etc. But public land was always the most fun to me the boat races (we they had them), arguments, and all that come with it. Luckily most of the arguments our group got in were the non-threatening type. Nothing like getting in before shooting time watching ducks touchdown and lift off in the moon light. Having them swim within an arms reach. The only thing that may be better is when the mallards are cupped floating down through the timbers at shooting time. The money spent is well worth it but there always seems to be more to spend.

Late to the post but have duck hunted all of my life here in Louisiana. Spent a few years guiding and don’t hunt near as much anymore due to the amount of birds in our state not being the way it used to be. None the less love it and looking forward to it this season.

Bought my son an Ithaca shotgun back in August for his birthday on gunbroker and USPS still says it’s “arriving late”. I added insurance thankfully but this is already a long and frustrating process.

LOL....I hear ya
On second hand does anyone know of any good YouTube channels that show the acutal blunders of waterfowl hunting? Many hunts have resulted in broken/lost gear and soaked equipment and persons. I remember a trip to slough we frequented on a regular basis. I was walking in front in knee deep water and told the guys behind me not to forget the beaver run coming up. Didn't much more than get it out of my mouth and a slid off in it. Half soaked body and 25 degrees is FUN!!!!!!!

These are some hens I’m currently working on. I like to mix up the paint scheme.

Where the skys are so blue!
So I was just drinking beer and watching youtubes and came across this video. This dude has been a huge help to me over the past few years as I've slowly gotten more serious about duckies.

Agree with everything except the 870 comment. But, his is 30 years old so I guess we still agree. New gun....500. Old gun...870.
