How are you carrying your repel rope?

Rappelling down was a game changer for sure.

You guys having aider trust issues, it's worth trying different materials. I couldn't get used to amsteel aiders while one sticking, I seem to be able to get into and out of webbing aiders easiest. Some guys might really like cable aiders since they hold their shape.

For me it isn't an issue with my amsteel aiders climbing up. It's going back down that gets squirrely. One reason I'm going to start rappelling.

If I didn’t pull the trigger on the lockdown saddle I’d be using this. Nice just dropping it in the pouch and having it ready(with plenty more space in there if needed)

For me it isn't an issue with my amsteel aiders climbing up. It's going back down that gets squirrely. One reason I'm going to start rappelling.

I prefer the Amsteel aiders to strap aiders. Easier to step into(with brake line steps) than strap aiders that I have trouble getting my foot all the way in without shaking the strap around. After monitoring it nonstop and seeing zero wear (on helium sticks) I don’t even worry about wear on the aider anymore. I do have concerns with using them on carbon ss sticks with such a small point of contact on the plastic though.

I'm still using one of the nalgene/water bottle carriers hung off my saddle that were popular like 5 years ago. It's not an ideal system but it works

I thought hard about it. I like keeping it modular but I needed a new saddle anyway and wanted the large pockets, and decided to go for it. It’s heavy on the scale but you don’t feel anything and honestly they nailed it for me.

if I was buying another that's the 1 I'd get also. big flat pockets and the yoke are gold to me

This year I’ve been using the lid on my Exo K3 to hold my rappel rope and second lineman’s belt (if I’m climbing a tree with a bunch of limbs, if it’s only a couple I just tie in with the rappel rope). I attach the triangle quick link to a stealth stripped extra carabiner on my right side and tie the rope to my pack with a bowline knot. My recurve gets attached to the pack by a 6 foot line of paracord with a loop for pulling up.

It’s nice to to haul around the weight of the rope on my saddle and makes packing up very simple.

Winner Winner! I can't believe it has taken me this long to come across the assault pouch! It fits in the same width as my roll pouch yet thinner and lighter. The rope packs much easier, there is a divider for my pull down line and I can keep the working end with madrock in the pack or for quick access I can keep the working end in my linesman dump pouch.
I was sneaking around bedding on Saturday grunting and bleating from the edges. It was so easy to grab my rappel from the dump pouch I would Tether to a tree, rest my muzzleloader on my bridge and watch and call from behind the tree hands free. I didn't find anything but I will definitely be doing that again. I could have done the same thing just standing behind the tree however not as smooth and controlled.

I need to find one the right size. I ordered one from Amazon and it was just a bit too small to fit 40 ft of rope.

@Nosaj I agree! I ordered one as soon as it was posted and I love it! I can fit all my rappel rope, quick link, mad rock, and carabiner inside

I'm really loving the drop out bag from Custom Gear Modifications. I can figure 8 the rope and have the leading end with my quick link right on top to wrap around the tree. The rest stays in a figure 8 in the bag. When it's time to repel down, I can open the bottom of the bag and the rope falls out the bottom. Figure 8 the rope back up at the base of the tree, cinch the bottom of the pouch closed, and it goes right back in the bag. Couldn't be easier.
