How are you getting deer in your truck when solo?

I have a big ole piece of plywood in the bed of my truck. Drop the tailgate, pull it out and drop one end. A ramp. Take my Jet Sled with deer and either push or pull it up the ramp into the bed.

I haven't shot a deer too big to deadlift yet (and I'm 37/drive a Tacoma) but have a plan to use my CT rollnlocks and rapell rope should I need to gain some mechanical advantage. Take one of lineman and lock it open as a pulley, attach to deer and game cart with some rope/cord/strap, take other off tether and attach to rear of bed, leave in progress capture mode. Rope gets tied to back of bed, then runs from back of bed to deer pulley to bed pulley to me, that way I can yeet on the rope to lift, but have a 3x mechanical advantage and it'll stay where I let go of I need to shift antlers/joints past the tailgate.

It works in theory, hoping to put it to the test this season by shooting a big boy or perhaps a double.

Working on gaining more confidence with knots to get away from the mechanicals, if I am successful they will likely stay in the truck for this purpose. Theoretically this is all doable with no mechanicals, running the rope through the tie down points in the truck, and using a prusik/carabiner to lock the free end down, it'll just have higher friction when pulling.

The throw a 2x8 in the truck seems like a simpler solution though to be honest.

Starting to do more remote/solo hunting and realized last year that I need a better solution than the old pull-and-pray method for getting heavy deer up into my truck bed. With this method, from the ground, I just tie the antlers off near the tailgate so it's head/rack is held above the tailgate, and then I climb up into the truck bed and start pulling, using the tail gate as a fulcrum point. Not great...

I'm kicking around a few ideas such as a hitch hoist or sled and ramp. I've used the hitch-mount hoists in the past, but I'm not a big fan of them. Curious to hear some good ideas from the members here.

So what are you all doing?
Get two 2x4’s about a foot shorter than the bed, put 1/4 inch plywood on them to make a ramp, put two metal handles on one end. Pull the deer up on the ramp, pick the back of the ramp up and slide the whole thing into the bed.

I combined a few ideas in this thread fwiw. I did have a deer sleigh’r sled. This time I did a better job of tying her down for the drag. It was better than I gave it credit for, you just have to really tighten things down. Into the truck I used the ladder idea. I left it on the sled and just pulled it up the ladder like a ramp, worked great.

I use an old boat winch and pulley. The boat winch is mounted to the tailgate and the pulley is at the front of the bed.

Tie to deer and crank. 3 back surgeries and a hernia surgery = use the big head
