Funny thing how I found out about saddle hunting I was in between jobs this summer and decided to start looking into lighter weight more versatile ways of climbing trees.
While looking into different types of strap on steps I came across a video of Boudreaux Boswell and wondered hmm what is this saddle thing he has going on. I then proceeded to watch almost every video he has on YouTube then really started looking into saddle hunting I watched a lot of videos from G2 outdoors, wild edge, and the DIY sportsman. All of these guys played a very crucial part in the decision for me to go into Saddle hunting. From the beginning I was very interested in the Kestral so that is what I went with and I have been hooked ever since shortly before I received my saddle I found out about John Eberhart a fellow Michigander and started watching a bunch of his videos and listening to podcasts I then contacted John Eberhart and left him a message asking to pick his brain on the saddle set up he contacted me back and we talked for a little while he gave me some tips and tricks and emailed me some information on saddle set up and scent control I will say the saddle hunting family is a great family and I would personally like to thank all of these guys for their videos and inspiration.

I was looking for a new way to hunt. I had usd climbers, lock ons, ladder stands etc. like most I had been doing this for years. I was climbing, and had clipped in with my linesman lanyard and was up about 16 feet. I leaned back and the linesman was not there. I fell and got broken up. After inspecting my gear I found that I had clipped into the D loop and not through it. The stitching was pulled out on the D loop. I hunted exclusively from the ground for 3 seasons. I Harvested deer, yet I missed the magic of being in a tree. I looked into the saddle again. I ended up buying a Kestrel. My twin brother who is OSHA instructor inspected it and immediately bought one for himself. His exact words were, “this harness is better made than what I have used for work.” So I took the time to learn and relearn climbing techniques that would keep me safe. It took a few moths to rebuild my confidence.

I blame it all on bowhunter15, the DIY Sportsman!! From stand & stick silencing modifications, to climbing with the rock harness, and then hooking up with the saddle guys (Bobby and Greg) and the hunting public,/hunting beast, my tactics and gear have continued to progress! The weight reduction benefits will be greatly appreciated this year (my 62nd), plus I just like figuring stuff out.
I will tell you that you (saddlehunters) aND this forum should be mandatory reading (as well as Garretts and Gregs YouTube channels) for safety purposes. Still patiently waiting on the kite and predator, but I'll have all spring and summer to get it wired. Better late than never!
Guess I'll pick up John E's book for some off season reading

Was looking for a lighter way of hunting on Public land and found a guidos web on Craigslist. Tried that and really like the lighter overall way of hunting. Since moved on to kestrel/mantis/kite .
With finding saddlehunter.com my equipment and methods quickly improved.

It was on Dan Infalts forum for me. That led me to this forum which then led me to the YouTube videos by DIYsportsman and g2outdoors.

I believe in safety first, yet always hated safety harnesses (typically heavy and cumbersome). I also spent a lot of my youth rock climbing and I believe it was bigbear (or something similar) that turned me on to RCH with modded lineman’s belt. Used this for awhile with climbers and hang ons only to realize that I didn’t care for climbers and hang ons.

Found a video on YouTube of a guy using what appears to be a sit drag in a tree in Texas and thought that just makes sense.

Found this site while researching further and the rest is history:

Bought an aero hunter evo in 2015 with separate leg supports. Updated to the present full seat. Wanted something smaller after modding with Petzl rings so I bought 2 sit drags (which I use with a cobra belt). This year, bought the kestrel (never used but looks amazing) then Tethrd opened and I went with a full mantis package and love it!

Now, even on private land, I find myself climbing into double ladder stands that have proven themselves, only to step up on the seat to set my predator and mantis behind and above the stand. I’m a swinger for life!

My cousin bought one in 2005 and the rest was history. It was such a natural transition for me. It all started when i got my 1st loc on tree stand and 8 cobra steps for xmas. I was 13yrs old. The "Loc On LEM" came with a safety belt which was a loop with a buckle. What you would do is girth hitch it around the tree then slide the loop over and around your waist. A real rib cage crusher if you fell. Anyway in my teens through my twenties i would always face the tree and lean back on the belt, sound familiar lol. I loved it and that is why the transition was a no brainer for me.

Within the last year,I saw a SH sticker on a trucks back glass, along with a Hoyt sticker. Quick internet search, I felt not interested. Kept coming across G2 videos everywhere, started to get a little interested. Found myself not wanting to move stands and/or go long distances. Got a little more interested. Hurt my knee, got a little more interested. Did a lot of research, got very interested. Wanted 1 badly, but felt it had to go into next years deer budget. My brother convinced my mother to order a Mantis for me for Christmas. So now here I am, checking the mailbox and SH.com every 10 minutes. I hope I love it, because I sure have a lot of time invested in obsessing over it. Can't wait.

I knew Jeff Anderson ( Anderson tree sling) we hung in the same archery shop before he passed... he gave me a sling which I sold on here not too long ago... I may actually be getting my hands on a few slings still new in package if anyone is interested.
I am interested as well!!!

I was sick of my climber and was searching for an another way. Came across an XL trophyline on ebay. Once it came I had no idea how to use it safely and that led me to SH.

Mine is unlike any posted so far.

I enjoy finding low spots between two ridges, as we know, those spots are called saddles. I decided to Google "Saddle Hunting" and found NOTHING about hunting low spots in ridges. However, this idea sucked me in.

I purchased a used Arborists Harness, then a Tethered Mantis.
