Ok, so a LOT of new people have shown up on the boards recently and I figured it would be a good idea to see how everyone heard about the forum.

I’ll start it out...
I heard about Saddlehunter over on the hunting beast. I didn’t take much convincing, because I climbed trees with a chainsaw some in high school/college and always felt very comfortable in the tree.

W2H podcasts with John E and 9FC podcasts with Andrew from Wild Edge. I like trying new things and not afraid to jump in when my interest gets piqued.

My brother brought it up to me. I’ve climbed for a living in pile driving leads & bridges. Heights and harnesses have never bothered me. So, I figured for a few hundred dollars - I should be able to hunt like this well into my 70s.

I have been want to try a saddle for the last 6 or 7 years. So this past year I said to my self I was just going to do it. So started my research and found this fourm pretty fast. Found all the info I needed here and had no need to going anywhere else!

I was searching for a different way to hunt besides a climber and purchased a Trophyline neoprene off eBay. Not knowing anything about it or tethering to ten tree etc. I was searching for instructions on the internet and came across saddlehunter.com.

Somewhere around 2009ish I came across the treesaddle online and I had myself convinced to buy it and try one everyone I knew that hunted had either never heard of it or thought I was crazy (some things never change).... so I passed also I was pretty broke back then so I ordered a trophy line treestand harness instead.... fast forward to 2015 sometime I came back across the tree saddle online and it gained my attention again from google searches of tree saddle I came across this website learned how to make a sit drag into a hunting saddle and I was hooked!...... if only I could go back and kick my self for not buying that tree saddle in the first place!

Podcast on 9FC (wild edge one) & then started looking into it & late last summer. Wish I’d of jumped in sooner, didn’t get my kestrel until December. I just ordered whatever @g2outdoors said until it got here...........this place is such a great forum though. A ton of combined experience here with different perspectives!! Really enjoy it....

My 12yo asked me to take him hunting this past fall, so I set him up and we went for the first time since he was 5. First time I'd gone in years, and first time on Michigan public land. Every trip was practically a convention. Frustratingly packed with people, no deer.

In December, I picked up "Bowhunting Pressured Whitetails".

After getting excited about saddles and scentlok in the 15 year old book, I started searching online for current Eberhart info. Found the kestrel, shat a brick at the cost (I need 2).

Searched "DIY tree saddle". It was like that scene when Dorothy first opens the door to see Oz in full color. Work productivity may have suffered.

So far this year, my son's got a new pair of mucks & scent lok, we're already out scouting, I got a great deal on 2 sets of helium sticks, I listen to 2 new podcasts and we're working on saddle plans. Going Saturday to see John's 1hr seminar and absorb everything we can to improve this fall.

John’s seminar is excellent. His last book, Bowhunting the Eberhart Way, is worth the money. What part of Michigan are you hunting? I grew up hunting there and still get back for rifle season every year.

I live in Adrian, hunting in Hudson Lake State Park. Going to try checking out Hillsdale soon.

I heard about the site through one of the DIY Sportsman (bowhunter15) YouTube videos.

Back in college my roommate had a trophyline saddle. Always wanted to try it out, but didnt know where to start until I found saddlehunter.
