How do you carry your milkweed?

I’ve got an abundance. Some I did the @Allegheny Tom way and it works great. Some I let dry too long without rubber bands in it. After I cleaned up the mess I’ve got a protein powder container full of it now. Sewed up this little pouch with a strap that I’ve been using so far this season. Can’t imagine I’ll ever need to collect again in my lifetime so one thing or another will work.

Easy Girls, no need to pull hair. I agree that the weed carried in it's own container is much more fluffy. Once it's stuffed into a container, it gets a little compressed. You may not even notice the difference until you open a fresh pod and try it. You'll see it is very fluffy & when there's no wind, it makes a big difference, just my 2 cents worth. ( or just open one up and dump it in the pocket of your favorite jacket) JK.
LOL, I'm not irate as it may appear. Like I said in post #57, do whatever makes you happy.
I've been using MW since the early 1980s, probably before a lot on here were just a gleam in their father's eyes.
And you are correct. Those days when the wind is almost zero, a floater pulled directly from a pod will float better, and also be seen easier at longer distances, than those shreds pulled from a container.

It's not a complicated thing. Mother Nature created the perfect dispenser. I use that one.

To each their own - if it works for you it’s good. And, this discussion is good for newbies to read and learn from.

I also prefer my milkweed strait from the pod. I keep 2 pods in my leather pouch so that I can easily transfer it from one garment to another.

It’s worth noting that there are many different species of milkweed, and each one varies. Here’s an interesting article from northern woodlands magazine:

God I love threads like this. Take a topic and really… get into the weeds badum-tshh

I’ve been using an empty one of these but looking for something better. I do like the cover scent on them though

In a little mesh pouch, with a dynaglide loop that's girth hitched to my pack strap. Opening on the pouch has some bendable wire in it to give it some structure.
