How do you get your deer out of the woods

Mostly by cart that my sons pull for me now:smiley:
Deep public land we quarter/bone out and pack or carry depending on distance.

The gutless method isn't practical here in WI due to legality. The only thing we can leave in the woods is the guts and the carcass can only be divided into 5 or less pieces. If I pack them out, I gut and generally just cut the animal in half. I still drag some out and for does and fawns I'll often just throw them over my shoulders and walk them out.

I've got a deer cart that never gets used. That thing makes so much noise going through the woods when it's empty. I just put my tether around the neck or antlers and start dragging.

I've drug the hair plum off the side of them before! It's good cardio!

I started quartering and packing during the 82-83 season due to necessity and never stopped. I wouldn't hang one to process if I killed it five feet from a skinning rack. I did this video on 10-1-91 to demonstrate my method.

Now that’s what I’m talking about!!! Great Job Man.

On public, I carry all my gear back to the truck, pickup my field dressing items and frame pack and head back in. I debone the meat, put it in cotton pillow cases and pack it out. At home, I drag em to where I can drive right up to them.

I just drag, one advantage of urban hunting it's never that far, lol. I do have to cover everything to ensure I don't offend the public, lol. Tarp and some rope is what I've been doing. I've got some ideas for a diy cart, I'll post if I ever get to it, lol.
