I learned how to climb with it and my gear, which translated to being able to carry everything on a bike without feeling like I'm hauling furniture thru the woods. haven't changed my setup in 2.5 seasons I like it so well

Right now I'm using a length of Zing-it with a carabineer on each end. On my way up I'll clip one end to my bow/rifle and the other end to my backpack. Then pull up bow/rifle. On the way down I clip one end in as my retrieval/release line, and lower by bow/rifle down with the other end. Then I can use that line to retrieve my rope from the tree when I'm on the ground. Always store the line in a figure 8.

I'm not worried about the strength of the zing-it, but it is small in my hands when pulling. I've considered switching to 7/64 amsteel, but the zing-it just packs down so small.

40’ of dynaglide with a Nite Ize s-biner on each end. I one-stick so it is my pull down rope at the end as well. Figure-8 it and I’ve never had it tangle. It can occasionally snag on branches so you have to watch out for that.

I’ve also used a wind up reel, forget the brand, with a ribbon on it. It worked well.

Had the same question recently for a friend of mine. Gutted Paracord. By pulling the actual inside out of the sheath, the sheath is so much more pliable. The figure 8 method is simpler and packs down easier.

I've tried multiple ropes over the years: 1/8" - 3/8" braid with various attachment mechanisms (hooks, carabiners, twist ties, etc.). Even tried paracord. I finally broke down and bought a Doyle's (rope not ribbon) a couple of years ago and haven't looked back. Bought a hoist bag from CGM that it lives in on my saddle. Couldn't be happier with it.

Doyle’s make it too easy. No tangles and don’t even know it’s there.

Started with pull cord for bow, rappel rope for backpack. Now hauling both up on rappel rope and lowering the bow with pull rope and backpack with rappel rope. Less things to tangle on the way up but more delicate ride down for the bow.

Samson 5mm rated accessory cord from Wesspur. It doesn't tangle, doesn't have any stretch, enough strength (1200lb) to use in an emergency, I also use it as my canopy TIP removal line, I can hang/drag a deer, etc... I'm willing to make the "bulk" sacrifice as compared to paracord or Zing-it.
