How long does it take you to climb?

I am new to saddles, but not new to sticks. I hate sticks and will gladly switch to the squirrel steps when @DanO gets his rev.#2. I am sure it is in the works.
I carry my Muddy Pros a little different than I have seen posted.

Stacking from the bottom up.
1st stick is rope looped into a sling.
2nd stick is held to 1 and snitched tight
3rd stick is held to 2 and snitched tight
4th stick is held to 3 and snitched tight

I never set them down. This allow me to always pull a single stick off starting at 4 and work my way up to 1. This procedure may be clear is mud.
If you wrap them all together like shown on most videos you have to take them all apart at the tree and figure you best way to climb with them.

Way to long but I'm only on day 5 of having my WE stepps so its getting quicker and I'm getting higher each trip up the tree.
I've been using WE stepps for almost 2 yrs and I started out sloooowww. Now I love them and could tie them in the dark no problem. In a normal tree I'm about 12 minutes ready to hunt taking my time. The key is practice.

Dang, just made a video and forgot that you can’t just load direct onto here. Guess I gotta load on YouTube first

Your stacking method is interesting. I like how Boswell used the 4th stick to link them all together, but he did have to set them down and load two on his Kestrel.

Your system sounds less noisy.

Try it very quite due to the fact until you chose to use the stick it always bound tight. Never a stick dangling.

My backyard is small and the only trees I practice climb in are sub par. There are also lots of non hunting neighbors lurking around, so I’m pretty much forced to be super stealth.

Yesterday while climbing one neighbor working on his pool filter, a mailman and another neighbor mowing the lawn didn’t notice me while climbing. Lol. Good practice but makes me feel like a total weirdo.

So here’s mine, and I was a climber guy for 20+ years, I’m just getting a system down with sticks and saddle setup. I have only setup a handful or times so far. So I know there is some room to make things a little smoother.
Time to start getting more reps in before season, but dang it’s deathly hot in Florida!

And off this topic, but I had a discussion on FB saddle page with a guy who was standing up turned with back to tree on his platform with a lot of slack in his tether. He didn’t agree that it was unsafe. While it may not kill him I feel it’s def not the safest. Anyways, made this other short vid to show how to shoot that full 360 without any slack in the line. I assume most people know and do this, but if it helps keep a few new guys safe then it’s worth it.

I’m going to have to time myself with my LW hand climber. I think I can beat you all! Lol

WE stepps and an aider for me. 20-25 minutes from time I arrive at tree to completely set up and relaxed. I have too much experience with trying to speed up the tree and making noise. Now I put more emphasis on silence. I just head to my tree earlier to make up for it.

Cool thanks! Looks like you’re cruising right along! I’m curious why you swap your linesman for the tether after the climb and replace it with the thin linesman, which is only used to set the tether.

Also, dang your jaw must’ve gotten tired

I only like to carry one main line for weight bulk reasons. So my linesman is my tether also. I have a daisy chain Amsteel that is what you saw that I use for crossing branches or transitioning from “linesman” to “tether”
