How many deer have you killed?

How old you are: 32
When you started: 10ish.. I'd say I didn't actually start hunting hunting til I was 24
How many seasons: Due to college and getting grounded from hunting 1 year in high school (long story :tearsofjoy:) I'd say no more than 15 years
Where you generally hunt: 100% Maryland up to this point
And how many deer you've kilt! 27

8 antlered, 19 antlerless
5 private (2 antlered), 22 public (6 antlered)
1 rifle, 7 shotgun (3 antlered), 19 archery (5 antlered)

27 years old in December

Started hunting when I was 6 and every season since. So 21. Although for the time I was in school and college it amounted to just a few weekends a year.

I hunt MO & AR

I can definitely remember 30. 18 of them are bucks and 12 are does. I'm certain I'm missing several does. When I was younger I'd shoot every doe that cam by just because that was the only time I ever got to shoot a gun and I really liked shooting lol. Actual number is probably in the neighborhood of 50 if I had to guess. But ill stick with what I can prove at 30.

Been on a tear since I got out of college in 2019. I've killed 14 deer in the 3 year stretch and I'm not done yet for this year either.

I don't want to turn this into a competition, but I'm really curious.

I just added every one I can remember up and so far I'm at an even 20. For a broke 25 year old I'm not too disappointed, but I definitely want that number to go up. Of course, I killed my first when I was maybe 7? So I'd like to think I neglected a doe or two. Sometimes mine and my dad's kills run together too since we hunt so much and I clean the majority of his deer lately. But I know for sure I've accounted for 20.

This might be a fun summer post!

I have never killed a deer outside of Alabama and hunt primarily public, btw.
I am from Maryland, hunt all public land now. I lost a lease in Delaware where i had 33 acres.
I am 36
Started hunting 5 years ago (so 5 seasons)
I have only killed 1 quality buck (nice 7 point) and probably 10 doe….

I prefer bow hunting now, especially being on public. I did gun hunt when i had private….

You are kind of small for 37 years old. But I like your boots, camo choices, and long-arming-photo skills. Excellent work!

33 years old

Started deer hunting at 13, hunted five seasons on private land (5 deer killed)

Started again at 26, hunted 8 seasons to current. (26 deer killed)

Live in South Louisiana, hunt public land predominantly in south LA, some in central LA. Random hunts throughout rest of state on public land, Have made trips to the Midwest the last 3 seasons, plan to continue to do so. A smattering of private land opportunities here and there.

I notched numbers 27-31 this past season (in three different states).

Total 13 seasons, 31 deers kilt.

Hunting since 13, 8 year break in middle
16 seasons

Im 48. I got my hunting liscence in 1985.
my family were huge duck hunters and i never dove into the whole deer world until around 93.
I used an old lone wolf assault, climbers, and old locon stands.
i preset all my trees with steps, rubar or rail road ties.
Killed my first buck and first doe that year.
i believe I tagged out (4 deer) almost every year until i started to go after target animals in 2017.
ive killed several deer since then and have sacrificed alot of encounters with other deer going after certain bucks.
a tough way to hunt that can be very frustrating for some but in the end if the effort is put in very rewarding.
Throughout that time ive off and on hunted 4 states. Home state being once again
New Jersey probably arond 50
Delaware 4
Virginia 20
Kentucky 1
So im up around 75 or so in almost 30 years.
not to shabby
These last 3 years ive hunted very little because of life and health crap.

Turned 65 last week, started in 1967 at 10, mostly bird hunting the first few years, but had strong thing for bowhunting that never left me. Haven't kept a kill diary but have shot a lot of deer and hogs over the years. If I had to guess a total head count though I'm probably close to hundred by now.

I hunted over dogs, swamp buggies and airboats in the earlier years. Shot a 12 deer limit for a string of years while on a lease in GA in the 90's. Most of the kills were via gun, but lost interest in my whack-em and stack-em years and prefer close encounter bow hunting with recurves and longbows over the past 20 some years. So kill count has dropped to a few deer and sometimes none per year since then.

Again, its not about the head count for me any more, much prefer quality close encounters on game, even if I don't get or take the shot, and mentoring others into the challenge and fun of bowhunting with traditional gear.

Started hunting in 2017, so half way through my 6th season

I hunt public land all over New Jersey, Delaware, and eastern Pennsylvania. Planning on hunting Maryland for the first time, in December.

17 deer shot with a bow and recovered (9 antlered, 8 antlerless; 11 from the ground, 6 elevated). I'll admit that I've missed or wounded nearly as many as I've recovered. Teaching myself how to bow kill deer has been a steep learning curve that I'm still trying to get past.

checked my NC harvest report card
since 2013 I've reported 23 with a bow, haven't gun hunted deer since picking up a bow
12 does from 2013 to 2017, no does reported after 2017
11 bucks from 2013-2022
2018 and 2019 no reported kills for some reason
so that probably puts me at 30-40ish

37 (only 1 buck out of that 37 would score over 110"- im starting to understand what folks say when they say hunting a mature buck is like hunting a totally different animal than spikes and does, but im working towards it. ive just really enjoyed learned how to kill deer and the family loves eating them so I kill as many as I can for now)

I’ve hunted 47 seasons for whitetail I can’t count the # off hand. Who really cares. Lol
I don’t know why but I can tell the # of Toms I harvested at 49. 47-48-49 this year. Most important whitetaii is the next one God willing!

How old are you? 41

When did you start hunting? Took my first deer with a muzzleloader in 1996. First bow kill in 2004.

How many seasons? 27 total. 19 of strictly bowhunting.

Where do you hunt? Kentucky

How many deer have you killed? I took bow killed whitetail #123 this past Sunday. Not sure but maybe 10-15 gun/muzzleloader kills prior to 2004.

The stats are fun to keep up with as a personal accomplishment but everyone's situation is different. A guy from Maine with 50 kills compared to somebody from Alabama with 250 are likely both very experienced hunters.

Agreed. When I started hunting, it was almost frowned upon to shoot does. Nearly everyone's mentality was buck or nothing.

Also, my mother was stubborn and thought venison was gross and wouldn't cook it. Therefore, I only ate it when my dad would make it, and his culinary ability was.... Let's just go with, limited. :tongueclosed:

One deer would last a long time at our house when I was a kid. There was no need or desire to shoot more than one.

Fast forward... My state completely changed its deer policy and practically begs you to fill multiple doe tags. I moved out and married a girl who also likes to hunt. We cut them up ourselves and started trying different ways to prepare it. Turns out my mother is, in fact, a stubborn, uninformed looney toon, go figure. There's literally 100 different ways to make it delicious, none of which includes frying half frozen chops in a pan until they're overly-well-done and tougher than shoe leather.

Taking a buck and a doe or two here in one year is an accomplishment. But after seeing some of the numbers posted in this thread, it's been made painfully clear to me that I definitely live in the wrong state. :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

That's a lot of bow kills man! congrats.

How old you are: 30
When you started: 6yo, killed my first doe with a 20 gauge when I was 8.
How many seasons: Hunted every season since I was 6, very blessed to come from a hunting family.
Where you generally hunt: NC
And how many deer you've kilt! 60 total, 10 with a bow.

Glad I took pictures and kept a journal. If you don't write down your hunts/ kills I strongly suggest it. One of my favorite things to do is go back through my journal at the beginning of the season, prevents me from making some of the same mistakes twice.

How old you are: 53

When you started: I was 34 for my first year hunting and first year married

How many seasons: 20

Where you're from/where you generally hunt: Well originally I'm from the south...south pacific. Guam. Landed in Illinois though 26 years ago when I started my second job as a teacher.

And how many deer you've kilt! This year 4 so far and counting, last year 0...the previous 18 years was 25 deer. So total is now 29, and 6 hogs.

This might be a fun summer post!

I have never killed a deer outside of Illinois and hunt primarily private, btw two of my 29 deer were killed on public land.

Let me know:

How old you are. 64

When you started. 9 years ago I think. 55 years old

How many seasons 9.
Saddle hunting since 2015.
Where you're from/where you generally hunt. Ontario. Public and neighbours and home.

And how many deer you've kilt! Can’t remember. None last year. Three this year - one of those while party hunting. Likely about 10 give or take 2.

Never really kept track of all this.
