Good to know. Lol. I’m gonna dial them both in and have them ready to go. I haven’t even begun to think about other climbing methods other then my muddy pros....

1. Old tree suit
2. Kestral
3. Mantis
4. JX3
I have a buddy that will take one and my 16 yo son loves ‘em too. I may not have enough of them.

Modded sit drag
Stock sit drag
Kestrel
Kite
Mantis
Jx3
Trophyline ambush

The two sit drags were used as a set so I just counted them as one. The trophyline never made the trip to the woods with me. The kite and jx3 have never been on a hunt but will that s season. The sit drags, kestrel, and mantis have all served me well each taking part in filling my freezer. I can’t say I have a favorite yet. I do have a least favorite but I will let anyone try them and see for themselves.

It's kinda like asking how many guns or bows a guy has. Most of us can figure out a way to justify multiples, I have 4.
If I owned as many saddles as Rifles I’d be in a lot of trouble. I’ve justified every caliber.... but I don’t think I could manage to justify that many saddles:oops:

I have a son so it’s easy to justify everything. I have actually thinned down my rifle collection the last 10 years. 308 for most anything big game. Handgun hunted a lot several years ago. Thinking of consolidating that selection also.
I guess a smart person would just have one of everything they need and take good care of it. If I drop a rifle I don’t check zero. I don’t trust my bedding and mounts either I just grab another and keep hunting. If my saddle gets drenched I just hang it in the shed and grab another. I guess I don’t need one for every day of the week but you never know.

Started with a diy paracord hammock to hunt from ground and rch used with tree stands. From there I went to:

Aero Hunter Evolution
Two Sit Drags
Tethrd Mantis
Aero Hunter Kestrel

Still have all, except for one sit drag I gave my niece’s husband.

Never hunted, or even sat in my kestrel.

Guess I got the fever...

Started with DIY SitDrag with RCH. Too many buckles, takes too long to get setup so did a DIY Kestrel off of Carl's design. Used that all season and really liked it. I like the SitDrag with RCH for my daughter though just because of the safety factor so she used that. Just finished "The Wraptor" with a battle belt and internal DIY lineman belt. Need to get some hang time to see how I like it. I have a son I needed a saddle for so thought I'd try that.

I am constantly fighting the "more gear" sickness. These threads certainly don't help.

Sit drag only for now. Saving for a Mantis or Flex maybe.

I don't personally see the need for a backup and certainly not dust collectors. I tried and sold both a Kestrel and a Mantis that didn't make the cut for me. Have a Kite currently and just received a Flex to try. I could see keeping both the Kite and the Flex as they could have different applications based on time of year, distance to stand, etc.

can you give a brief description as to why the Kestrel and Mantis didn't make the cut for you? I'm new to the saddle world but am planning on buying a saddle in the next couple of weeks and i have been reading pros and cons of the different brands / models and am interested to hear your input.

Kestrel I found the thicker cordura fabric uncomfortable to walk with the saddle on. I just thought it was a touch too bulky for my liking. Remains to be seen how much that is going to bother me with the Flex.

Mantis vs. Kite: I did a more detailed review but I can't seem to find it right now. Ultimately I had some pros and cons for each saddle but personally found the Kite more comfortable and preferred the buckle system. I do think that comfort is personal based on body type and subjective based on preferences, so I wouldn't read too much into mine or anyone elses preference between the two either.

Still I thought the Kite left some comfort to be desired as it still has a tendency to "ride up" from my preferred comfort sweet spot. Not so much an issue on short hunts, all day rut hunts a little different story. My hope with the Flex was that would fill that max comfort, all day, niche while I could keep the Kite for shorter hunts.

Just the old kestrel for me. I've owned several (anderson, trophyline, treesuit) but don't see the reason to own multiples. I also have sat in a kite and mantis and just didn't see the appeal over Old Faithful.

Started with the Anderson sling sold that . Trophyline sold that. I have a Treesuit, Guido's Web and a Kestrel and a Flex coming soon.
