hunting trip in mid/late oct?

Kentucky has a 2 day muzzleloader season 10/21-22. Otherwise that time of year is archery/crossbow. Modern gun starts 11/11.

Oos base annual hunting license is $150, and the state wide deer permit (4 deer, 1 antlered) is an additional $185 for non res.

Would this primarily be a bachelor party that incorporates hunting, or a hunting trip with your buddies that happens to coincide with your wedding? If it's the former, I'd suggest going for pigs instead of deer. You shouldn't have to drive to far to get onto some swine, you should have enough action to be entertained, and if somebody doesn't get to the stand at first light because he was up late sipping a thimblefull of sherry, NBD. I'd think that going after deer or bear would add some pressure to the proceedings that might not be conducive. That said, October is bear season in MN and a rug would make a hell of a memento.

Wisconsin has a lot of public land and a late (around Thanksgiving) firearm season. Out of state archery tags are not that expensive and you get a free doe tag for a county in the farmland zone if you buy a buck tag.

Clarification: You buy a buck tag, they have a lottery for does in the northern forest zone.

Just to jump on the marriage/kids thing... I told my wife we were not getting married during hunting season because #1 its hunting season and #2 its football season. We ended up getting married on opening day of turkey season
Also when we decided to try for kids I told her we were holding off trying during the month of February :tearsofjoy: I was half way joking but our son ended up being born in February so that was good timing!
