my wife is starting to hate this site because the money is starting to add up. Just bought a single muddy pro stick after watching Cain’s video and bought an ez kut drill bit and bolts for pre sets. A cpl questions.

1. I only ordered the power drill bit for pre sets. I see a lot of guys carry the hand drill as backup. Do you think that is mandatory?
2. What’s the best way to silence the bolts?
I’m thinking shrink tubing.

3. NEVER TYPE POSTS in the hunting forums where you actually type WIFE & then go on to insinuate over spending on your part as well in the same post...….haahahaha:mask:……..BINGO DINGO!!!!!!!!:sunglasses:

I have used this method for years. I drill the trees preseason. I drill them at a slightly upwards angle cuz the 6" grade 8 bolts bend down little when you step on them. The tree gives a little. Then when hunting season comes I just carry the hand drill to ream out the holes. We used to make home made stands and leave them in the woods but people would mess with them like putting a stick into the holes they could reach and snapping it off. Never had a problem with noise. We spray painted them black and carried them on a cordura pouch on our belt. In my area it gets dam cold so you need the drill to clean out frozen sap or water. One year I had a big buck patterned on state land during bow season. He would never come close enough for a bow shot but I knew I could get him with a shotgun. I was new at the drilling thing and didn't bring my hand drill. Opening day comes and in I go 1.5 hrs. before light. I find my tree and all the holes are frozen shut with sap or water. Sat on the ground and never saw a deer that day but had a few shots pretty close by.
