If you could change anything about the kestrel what would it be?

I have no issue with any particular feature of the kestrel other than bulk. My kestrel with pouches and ropes takes up entirely too much room in my pack.

I am not a lightweighting freak by any means, but I look at DIY anderson slings and even plain old treestand harnesses and wonder how they get away with only using webbing.

Of course the tree harnesses are used for fall arrests and not for hanging.

I guess if anything I would like to see an ultralight kestrel model with most/all of the same features it currently has without me having to hack one up.

Pockets for hot hands chemical warmers has also crossed my mind.

We made a handwarmer muff which also has an internal compartment for gear. I can stuff the tether, pruners, small saw, couple screw in steps in the gear pouch portion.
It clips onto the lineman loops so the stuff I need is right in front. Reaching around to find stuff hanging from the molly loops is awkward.
Not sure I will ever use the molly loops.

Got any pictures of the pouch?

I wore my Kestrel for many miles shed hunting this spring, just to see how it is for walking. I used the lineman rope and ropeman for an adjustable suspender. I hardly realized that I was wearing it. Weight and bulk doesn't seem to be an issue to me. IMO, wearing it to the stand beats carrying it in a pack.

This is just the prototype. There's a few things I want to tweak. It needs quieter fabric, and a couple other minor things.
Shock cord closures on the cuffs are adjustable, and BTW, the best cord lock for shock cord is a small wire tie. Much better than the store bought kind with the springs that don't hold.

1. Have the leg straps go straight across your leg like a RC harness instead of up to your waist. It's way more comfortable, and if you slide straight down you don't wreck your manhood as bad.

That..
a mesh version with RC harness leg loops and belay loop would probably be the "you can never do better" saddle
