Well, I’m after a couple of bucks between this property and another…let me say I wouldn’t take a shot unless I could determine he was 160+. Also I’m not going to take a shot at the end of dusk it’s just to risky…there’s plenty of time left in the season to score so that’s why I’ve always been patient thru the yrs….today I hunted a pinch point which I calculated would produce good deer movement on a west wind…and it did. 5 does walked right underneath me and one yearling buck cut the trails perpendicular 50 yards south of my set up…only second day out so I’m looking. Forward to tomorrow then Friday with a good cold front coming in…Forky's aren't for me unless I'm with my kids. You said two bucks came in but it was too dark for a shot, which, to me, implied you wanted to take a shot. That's where my question came from.
Friday and Saturday should be good here this week.Well, I’m after a couple of bucks between this property and another…let me say I wouldn’t take a shot unless I could determine he was 160+. Great looking buck! Interesting name choice for him. And particular reason for choosing it?View attachment 73641After getting many pictures of Issachar… he’s now on the hit list- I’m going to say he’s a least a 4yr old maybe 5 compared to my previous thoughts he was a young buck. He’s moved more than a half a mile from his summer early fall spot so we are trying to determine where he’s bedding. I can’t wait to go back Nxt week. Keep you guys posted as this season has brought me great satisfaction and patience. I’m very appreciative and grateful for regaining my health and stamina. I don’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t bow hunt that’s for sure. When you live in a state like Michigan and knowing that 95% of the bucks you pass will get shot leaving literally no yr to yr history and pursuit. Nonetheless, Iowa fills a void other hunting cultures can’t comprehend or adhere too. Gods blessed me with returned heath and appreciation for the outdoors…so bow hunting it is

It’s a biblical name…it’s true meaning is discernment and knowing what’s in front of you. Bucks of this caliber are great worriers and play the chess game of survival better than there competition. His genes are so evident on this farm many of the younger bucks carry the same antler frame where the antlers lay flat and go out wide before they begin to turn. If you notice his left ear is torn from fighting. Men of Issachar were great worriers that won every battle.Great looking buck! Interesting name choice for him. And particular reason for choosing it?
You know last yr I suffered a major heart attach while out hunting on Oct 20th. God had other plans for me. Those of you that know me personally know I’m a fighter with a never quit attitude. I’m grateful for all God has graced me with and all his protection. But I have to say nothing overshadows the unity and camaraderie on saddlehunters. I love the sharing and helping on our site. My doctor couldn’t believe how good of shape I was in..I lost weight, hiked my ass off all summer, and lowered my blood pressure - which I contribute to now having 3 100% wide open arteries…all in all I want to enjoy the season whether I shoot a buck or not - that’s the truth. Sharing my Iowa experience just might inspire you to the Nxt level…as Vince Lombardi Said “we didn’t loss - we ran out of Time”A thought that haunts me every day. Nothing besides family that I enjoy more.
I recognized the name instantly but didn’t know the significance to you. I’m studying through the OT this fall and there’s some unique names for sure. Sounds like a very fitting name for a worthy opponent. Good luck! It’s a biblical name…it’s true meaning is discernment and knowing what’s in front of you. It’s the auto word replacement when typing I think but love it…I sure do remember and it's fantastic seeing you back at it. Enjoy following the journey.
One nitpicky note for ya: warriors, not worriers. Our team last year were worriers when your wife posted her message. You're a warrior getting back at it this year.
Good luck!
Will you be hunting in Iowa tonight again Silvio? It’s the auto word replacement when typing I think but love it…
