As I practice one sticking, I’m finding the most frustrating thing to get my tether line up and cinched into position. In the video below, the guy demonstrates what seems to be a good technique for keeping the tether in position - but my set up is with a quick link! Wondering if anyone has a tip or technique that would accomplish the same thing?

Get a section of 1” tubular webbing and run your tether thru it. After just a couple of climbs it will fuzz up really well and grab the tree like Velcro. It will also let you easily reposition the girth hitch or link as needed and all the while doing it’s main purpose of protecting your tether from tree wear.

I use this method with 8mm Oplux and 9mm Protec.
The rope stays in place well.
Hook your pull down rope into the carbiner.
