Klemheist vs Prussic

I have a Beal Jammy I am considering making an adjustable bridge with. When I use the Jammy as a Prussic, the loop is longer than I prefer. A Klemheist knot uses up more length, and makes the loop shorter.

Is there any concern to using a Klemheist over a Prussic in this application? Or in any application, for that matter.

Klemheist is fine. I like an autoblock better for most applications.

Lots of good friction hitches, all with different pros and cons depending on the application.

Regarding cordelette length issues, you could always tie your own to the exact length you want. I know knots aren’t pretty but it’s nice being able to fine tune length.

Is it just for bridge adjustment? Klemheist should work fine, but the reason a prusik is used more often is because it’s omnidirectional, Autoblock is also omnidirectional, whereas the Klemheist is more unidirectional. Klemheist bites best in one direction and gets undressed in the other direction, so it could make on-the-fly bridge adjustments a bit messy in one direction. You can always wrap a fourth turn on your prusik to minimize the loop length. if it were my bridge I’d choose an omnidirectional hitch, but I’m sure someone else knows something I don’t.
