I'm not sure I would want a girth hitch on my foot, I imagine it wouldn't feel good.

My first knaider attempt.
7mm accessory cord
Paracord wrapped tread
1" tubular webbing cinch
1/8" bungie toggles for heal and knee retention
Paracord lift assist loop
It has worked ok so far. Hook does tend to catch a little bit as I try to move up. Haven't had any issues coming down though.Looks great. Does the bungie toggle provide enough support around your knee? How do you like it so far?
If you don’t have a sewing machine you could use a speedy stitcher. If using the SS, I prefer to use a denim needle and use heavy duty thread, instead of the standard SS needle and thread. This is my first Season in the Saddle. Only got up to 13 ft with four Hawks Mini Sticks. I've replaced the Straps with Amsteel Daisy Chains.
O.K., so I am a little late, but could use some advice.
I plan on using the Hawks Straps to build a Knaider. My question - Is it safe to use a "speedy stitcher" on these straps or will that weaken them? Or should I just hand stitch 'em.
Thanks. Just ordered SS, small #4 Needle & HD Thread. I think I like the sewn in metal slider vs castration band. Have the J Double hook from old strap. I saw a video where the J Hook automatically unhooks as you go up, so I'm gonna try that. Not sure if I want a shock cord to keep the Knaider close to my knee or a snap buckle. I have four straps to tinker with...If you don’t have a sewing machine you could use a speedy stitcher. there are also “no sew” ways to make a knaider.
also if you’re making a knaider to go over a climbing stick rung then I like to just loop the webbing over the step instead of a hook. 2” webbing is what I ise for this.
Just curious. Why do you have a Cam Buckle instead of just one straight strap in the second photo?I tried the girth hitch method, and the o-ring method.
Girth hitch was painful, and the o-ring was a PIA.
I have found that a sewn in metal slider works well. You can adjust it so it holds tight, but doesn't pinch your foot.
