I used a lone wolf EZ hang hook I had lying around. It's the same hook.

Found this hook on an old ratchet strap this morning. There's a reason I keep EVERYTHING! Knaider/Swaider is happening today.

Thanks @peter and @swampsnyper for these great ideas.

The only thing I don't use in the video above is the bungee cord as I found this to be a source of noise.

I also clip into the V instead of the horizontal bar. Similar to Pete, I remove the carabiner from the step when the knaider is attached to the step.

My latest iteration of climbing with stepps has both the lineman's belt and tether girth hitched to my saddle with ropemans on each for adjustment. The lineman's belt is used conventionally, but my tether has 3 functions.

1.) It holds my single (or multi) step aider when climbing. Just clip the aider into the biner and climb. A continuous loop of amsteel and a castration band works great here.
2.) It serves as my secondary lineman's belt when I have to go around limbs.
3.) It's my tether at hunting height.

I'm sure there are some more great ideas out there and I'm sure I'll tweak this some more. I have at least a half dozen climbing iterations with the knaider since @Peterk1234 went live with it last winter. As I've mentioned in my other posts, it has revolutionized how I climb trees. I can't thank you enough.

Knaider complete. Only took 15 minutes.

Just went and tried it on a Stepp Ladder. WOW! I'm blown away at this thing. It works like a charm. Now to build the Swaider and find some castration bands or large o-rings. Maybe home depot?

I sewed a big loop to the Knaider instead of making it adjustable lengthwise. My suspicion is once you set it, you'll rarely change the length.

I put on my hunting boots, measured for the proper length and sewed the loop. It worked great. I'm a big fan.

Your assumption is correct. Even with different boots it only moves an inch or so.

Yes. Just more hardwear

If you dig into the winter thread, there should be some more options. I'm pretty sure I posted one with minimal sewing before I got out my wife's sewing machine

Actually @MCDM, it looks like @Peterk1234 already has the part list laid out for the non sewn version above. No digging required :D

This is one of the easiest sew jobs I've ever done.

The whole thing only took an hour from womb to tomb.

6.5 ounces and packs up tiny.

Last step is to try it with and without the bungee to see which one I like better.

Repurpose your tether carabiner and it gets lighter yet. ;)

I'm short and and I can get my stepp ladder to 5'. I think I'll carry 6 Stepp Ladders for 6 lbs. That will get me to 30' or 25' on a big tree and use the 6th step on my strong side in conjunction with the Predator Platform. Winner winner chicken dinner. Bye bye climbing sticks. And with the new knot tying method from @Cain, these things are wicked easy to install.
