Used some double front / logger pants with inserts in the knees last weekend. Only thing I noticed was the ones I wore were stiff hence noisy. Need to find a camo pair or maybe dye a worn out pair I already have.

I've just been use McDavid Hex knee pads, worn under my outers and they work fine for me. bonus, that when I kneel to check out something, take a shot when roving, or at the base of the tree to unpack my gear, I'm protected cause they are always on. (these are the same knee pads I wear for my Obstacle Course Racing so I have a few pairs kicking around)

I spent the money on the arcteryx knee pads after all the positive reviews on here. Used cheap knee pads from Home Depot for years and years and they work fine. Really like the arcteryx now after a full week of hunting with them mainly because I can put them on at the truck and wear them all day. Plus no Velcro if I do have to take them off. Plus they look cool instead of looking like some guy in camo who came to tile your bathroom floor....

Where the skys are so blue!
I have to say I sprang for the Arc'teryx pads and have 0 regrets. Pricy? Disturbingly so to this ole boy. But they have enormously improved my comfort level in my saddle. I put them on at the truck along with my kestrel, and just GO. I think 3 miles was about my longest stretch in them. They never loosened or felt weird at all. They also make kneeling in the bottom of my Grumman more comfortable, for what that's worth.

I'm getting to the point where I'm buying "spares" of everything because I know how the saddle industry has historically been. I'll be buying another set.

Horde your ameristeps! Horde them!

Ive only owned one brand...Arc. Zero complaints.
Not saying there aren't others out there that will work well (or good enough) but I just decided to take the advice of the guys that have been doing this saddle stuff a lot longer than I have...they are the guinea pigs (thanks guys).
My buddy found some ~$20 knock-offs and they LOOK almost identical. But the padding is slightly thinner, but that could be remedied. The difference that I didn't like was the knock off pads were a hard plastic that wasn't sticky against trees. The Arcs Have a texture...kinda sticky, that grips the tree a bit. There's less slipping with them. Hard pads want to slide off the side of the tree. It actually takes a bit of effort to keep the hard pads in place which becomes slightly tiring.
Go with the Arcs.

I wear the cheap volleyball knee pads. No real complaints. Maybe I need to try some better ones to see the difference

Just went to site and bought a pair for 28.80, to test against my cheapo pair since they're on sale for less than cheapos were. Site and sale still functioning.
For some reason they won't accept a Visa card.....Guess I will miss out on the his sale. I don't have a MasterCard or American Express.

Yea that's crazy, first time I've ever seen a merchant that doesn't take VISA! Isn't that the motto?!
