Do you get pads with hard fronts or soft like these? The green ones are really light weight and roll up tight. The other ones seem a little bulky but soft and very quiet. I don't know if I'll need knee pads or not for longer sits. I'm a big guy so I'm guessing that if I'm resting my knees on the tree Ill want some.

If you are planning to rest your knees against the tree you are definitely going to need pads. It doesn’t see like a big deal at first but within about 10 mins it starts to hurt.

I can’t remember the brand but many of us have gone with pads that are soft on the outside, don’t use Velcro, and are pretty easy to attach/detach in the field, rather then slid on/off.

Hard plastic fronts are loud on the tree bark. I bought some Huskies at home Depot with softer rubber fronts. I think for my easier to get to spots I'm going to try strapping a seat cushion to the tree so I don't have to deal with the annoying strap that goes around my knee.

I looked at both of those harbor freight knee pads today. I picked the softer green ones. They have velcro and will routinely need to be washed for scent control over the rubber ones but for $4 its worth a shot. I might go back and get rubber ones.

I like the Pro Lock PLK04. Very light, very comfortable with gel insert (included) and kind of a Kevlar looking material that is very quiet. Flea Bay for cheap <20.00 Home depot . Tried everything and left with these.

The Walmart by me had something like this in the link for $5. It has a nylon strap through it and plastic buckles that adjust. Its weights nothing, and I clip it to the molle on my bag on the way to the tree. I set it up to be a knee pad that I do not have to wear. I dont like the constriction around my knees that knee pads give me. This is very comfortable.
