The angled teeth are a major improvement. Lessons the flex, it cams over and bites in a lot better. I would almost even recommend breaking out the angle grinder…lol

With that said…. The first couple of batches were absolute crap. The holes were drilled up to 1/4” off and on an angle. They didn’t even fold properly. They were pretty bad. The newest version is the bomb.
I have an original. I cut my teeth at an angle about 1 week after receiving it and it was a MAJOR upgrade (LWCG knew it was too after the pictures, video and phone conversation, but that is neither here nor there). Personally I would recommend cutting them.

I just got one this week and it was delivered to my door on the second day. The only fault I can find is the sharp edges. I will definitely be doing a lot of wrapping so shouldn't be a problem.
I two bought Ambushs on the classifieds. Great platform! However They both had very sharp edges. I don't know how that is acceptible quality control LWCG. They need to put them thru a tumbler. Sharp edges on anything are pet peave of mine. Sooner or later your going to slice your hand open. Anyway, I have deburred every edge on both sides fo both of them. That's alot of nooks and crannies to debur and it took some time. Now I'm going to paint them and camo them. Great platform. Plenty of room to stand and spin for that weak side shot.

That is a problem with all of their stuff. They have been talking about fixing the sharp edges since November. I bought a 1.0 and compact sticks about a month ago. Still sharp as hell. I don’t know why they can’t get that right. They were talking about bead blasting them, then sanding them, now they are just gonna put a chamfer around the perimeter and call it good. Needs to be tossed in a tumbler or fillet every damn edge. When you have to file your $500 stand so it won’t cut your straps something is wrong.

This is the response I got on May 5th after asking if the edges were still sharp on the 1.0 stand.
" We are currently working on incorporating an extra step to the manufacturing process to dull these edges down. To do this, we are building a new machine which is taking a little more time. At this point the edges are still slightly sharp. We apologize for this inconvenience."

Agreed. I have spent hours filing every edge. Time consuming! Something is wrong when you can slice your hand open if your not careful. Not acceptable IMO.

"Slightly" ? Understatement!

Anyone have both the Ambush and a DIY Lone Wolf Seat Platform (from a replacement seat kit)? Does that extra 2 inch each side really matter that much? The Ambush 16x14 VS the DIY Seat at 14x12 (according to their site) is a $230+ difference in price really make me want to go DIY route.

My first impressions are I like this a lot and man does it bite a tree, my biggest fear was noise and so far in my limited testing its dead silent, hopefully this weekend I can spend some more time out back and try several different trees, I was pretty set on using a small lock on most of the season but this mite change that, time will tell.

I liked my Ambush at first but the flexing and sharp teeth will eventually wear through the bark and into the live bark and cambium of a tree. It works best on thick barked trees. The platform will really start to squeaky once the teeth break through the bark. So, spend some time on it. However they did make changes since the first run so maybe all better now. Can you send me some pics of the angel on the new teeth? I'm kind of curious.

Looks like they took some length out of the outer teeth as well. Ash is a thick bark tree. Try it on a cherry.

Definitely will, I cut 4 cherry trees down today over 2 in ground pools on a property corner, most of my hardwood tree sits are gonna be in birch or hard maple, I hate hanging a stand in a cherry but it always seems to happen every season!

That is interesting that the top side of the teeth are angled. The beast stick angles the bottom side of the stand-off teeth.

I wonder why they are on opposite sides.
