Let's see the DIY backbands!

you might could search my threads from last year or the year before where I used a kidney pad off of a military backpack frame. I was using it in conjunction with a sit drag.

I just used the back off a cheap folding chair.

I used the shoulder strap off of an ozark trail soft cooler. Works well

I’m thinking about modifying an obusform back belt. Then I can use it when hauling out “Spots” to protect my back.

I made one but havent used it yet with an old ratchet strap and made an overhand knot in each end and bought a small nite eye. One connects to my tether and one connects to both knots on the back support (in my head it works lol in the woods is a different story haha)

I removed the buckle and belt( sewed that into the Sit-Drag). Used black webbing strap and fed it thru the slot in the back. I use Nite Ize slidelocks with 550 cord Prusik knots on the bridge

Built this from leftover DIY Kestrel materials. Corduroy 500D and the padding is actually a harbor freight floor mat i cut up and the climbing webbing from REI.

Old api stand backpack strap with some cam jams and 550 cord. Ez stitched ends. The second backpack strap went on my wild Edge step bag shoulder strap.

Somehow lost my back band from my Kestrel on my last sit. Sensitive area, so don't want to go back to find it tomorrow. I have an old rifle sling that I've repurposed as a back band.

Question about this setup. Is there really a need for two Cam Jams? It seems like I should be able to tie the tag end of the 550 cord to one loop on the band, run it through my tether carabiner, then back to the cam jam connected to the other loop on my back band. Still adjustable, right?

See any issues? I'm going to do this on the fly tomorrow, and trying to avoid a stop at the store, since I have a Cam Jam laying around.

One cam jam is fine. The one I bought came in a 2 pack with the 550 cord with it, so I just used them both. Good luck!!

Thanks! Saw the same 2 pack at Home Depot and Tractor Supply. Getting after it in the morning didnt have time to get there, and was hoping one would work.

Any disadvantages angle-wise to running through your carabiner as opposed to a prusik on your bridge?

I think it’s more comfortable running through the carabiner on the tether then the prussic on the bridge.
With one cam jam this is the way I would go.
