Thanks @Adrena123, I just traded some WE steps for a LW platform and when I got it, it was different from the other LW I have. It's an older model that's why. I'm going to leave one stock and the other I'm going to do your mod's to.

I'll tell you before my mod, @George and i were scratching our heads. We knew it was the best platform to use. It is light weight ,quiet, folds flat, cast aluminum and the perfect size. Besides the fact that you would have to adjust it several times, it was hard to climb with. When pointing your toes down to go up or down the tree, the band would always hang up. That would rob us of energy. Not the case anymore. We're cruising now.

Not sure if I read it somewhere on the 3-4 treads about WL.
But I think I saw someone writing about using shrink wrap on the WL strap that goes around the tree to make it bit stiffer and therefor grab the tree less on the way up.
Do you guys remember read this somewhere? I can't seem to find it... Has anyone tried doing this??

I've done that. It works great. It works so good I'm hesitant on modifying it anymore. This is what I used.

In November I headed out to one of my preset trees. The plan was to hunt from 9:00am till dark. Figured I would use my LWHC as the platform instead of my preset screw in steps for comfort reasons. So I carried the HC with the built in shoulder strap up the tree. Lean back on linemans belt, installed HC on the tree and installed ocb strap around the platform. Stepped on my solid platform and hunted. Almost killed a 4yr old buck that day at 12:03. Almost sucks lol... anyway the LWHC can do both, with a built in shoulder strap!

I put this setup together today. The pack is a horn Hunter fanny pack with backpack straps (not sure of model) with my kestrel and knee pads inside and the hand climber attached to the outside. I'm gonna climb some more trees tomorrow but I'm digging it at 10.6#.

Nice setup. If anything gives you trouble, just fine tune it. The more you climb, the better it gets.

Man! You have improved the only thing that has convinced me to become a saddle hunter. The seat climber serving a dual purpose has whittled down a three part system to two.
Some say it isn’t stable side to side. When I mentioned that to my hunting buddy Warren Womack he just told me that since I’m standing on it as the platform anyway, if I needed to go from side to side I could just reposition it from side to side as needed and eliminate standing on the side of the platform. In essence it would be an a movable platform as needed instead of contorting off a stationary one. Haven’t seen it walked around the tree yet but in theory it makes sense!

Yes, 2 piece vs 3 piece! Honestly I don't use a stabilizer strap that often. Usually only if I feel the need for it in certain situations. I just showed a guy yesterday how to move/ walk the platform around like your saying. What makes it so easy to do is the "safety" rope that is connected to your foot strap and saddle/ biner. You pull the rope to lift the foot strap, slide your feet in and readjust the platform. Done deal.

Thanks to Adrena123 and all you other guys I have go my LW ready to hunt! Or better to practice until it’s hunting time.

So here I am trying to work how to take all my gear to the woods....
How to pack it all in a way that makes Sense to me.
So I had bought a Molle II waistband ( Harness) To carry the two part LW climbing stand. ( that I will not use any more). As I am using the seat for climbing now!!!
So I put it on the Adriana123 mod. It sit low but it weight is nothing. Then I use the OCB strap as a shoulder holder to that it does not sided down as I walk. Them the OCB will be used as an aider, and later to make the platform secure once at hunting Hight.
And now I can use my small hunting pack that I have always used that goes over the LW . With all I need.
But the best part of it is that I can unstrap the LW without taking the pack of my back. Then sent the LW on the tree put the pack on it and get the rest of the gear in my without the pack even going on the ground. ( Sent control OCD).

That is slick! Thanks for the shout out. Remember you can always leave it unfolded and use the band on your cross shoulder as a shoulder strap. It's not a purse, it's a European hand bag...

It may have been addressed in this thread, but do any of you guys climb trees with limbs on it using this? Seems like it could still work.

I haven’t tried it yet but I want to get out and play with it within the next couple days and that’s one thing I want to try. I have a five step aider that I’m going to use. I may bring a WE Stepp also.

I’m still waiting on my order to come in but I have some ideas about going around limbs that I’m thinking will be at least do able if not easy. I’m determined to make this work as my sole means of climbing and hunting.
