LWCG Ambush Platform

Mods I've done to mine:
  • Added padding where the leveling bolt contacts the platform
  • Replaced stock bolt with a 1 inch grade 8 bolt paired with a DanO button and a washer to ensure a snug fit
  • Added some self-adhesive wrap to dampen sound where the post touches the platform when folded up.

I think I should state again that while I’m disappointed with the product; I’m not mad at LWCG. I don’t want people to think I am badmouthing them. I’m encouraged to hear that they are communicating with the customer base and looking to improve. I’d definitely be open to hold off on the return if they had a solution for the post issues - even if it cost me a few bucks. I’d love this platform to be in the arsenal.

... as for our different experiences with the assassin vs ambush - could be that I am just more experienced with the assassin and know how to work it better, while I’m still in the learning curve with the ambush; but so far, I haven’t gotten the ambush the way I like it.

I think we'll have to find the sweet spot with the Ambush when it comes to strapping/camming. I think once we get it figured out the platform will be outstanding.
I took a gamble and sold my Assassin so hopefully things do work out.

Just got off the phone with Andre and had a good substantive chat. Couldn't have been more pleasant and understanding. He's actually beginning to hunt out of a saddle and is aiming to shoot the biggest buck taken from a saddle.

I think they are handling this situation about as well as one could.

Wait?! He told you he is hunting and trying to shoot the biggest buck from a saddle?

Perception is reality. He should’ve said “I’m hunting for a solution to the biggest business issue I’ve experienced” even if he is truly chasing the biggest buck from a saddle!

I'm relatively confident that Andrae is a better deer hunter than he is a machinist.

Im relatively confident andre wasent the one free handing/ drill pressing the platforms lol
Of course. And it's not like he can lock himself in a machine shop and churn out better quality replacements, either. He can pick shops to do the work, set up functional QA standards and checks, negotiate contracts, seek to recoup costs for substandard work, etc. (But even those may mostly be better done by someone else, appropriately empowered). Product testing/development/r&d and marketing are his strengths. True of not, a statement "I want to hunt like you" while sending out at least stopgap parts is about as good as I could reasonably expect.

At this point, I think the issue of bent bolts has been taken care of. They have sent out replacement parts to everyone that ordered in the first run of 150. As for any other issues, I would suggest you contact LWCG (aka Ashley) and let them know what problems you're having. He seemed as though they'll do whatever needs to be done to make things right.
In my case, the only manufacturing issue with my platform was the bent bolt. I got lucky and the holes on my stand appear square so no need to complain about that. However, anyone that does have other problems should contact them directly right away.

Did I get the first deer off of the ambush?

Just got out of the stand with my ambush. Everything went smoothly thank goodness. Bolt held up well. Angle adjustment was spot on. It was hard to cam over with those aggressive teeth. Couldn’t cinch it down too tight when I tried to cinch it. Otherwise no noise stable awesome.

My dano button came in also my button from lwcg did as well used the new bolt with the dano button and a washer and it’s a snug fit also wrapped the front with paracord where it’s got some contact with the post BEE62908-196C-4906-B5BE-45469912AE49.jpeg20F215B7-AA49-4498-AE27-700AF859EADC.jpeg84AAE237-91BA-431B-A830-D5075E077C23.jpeg

You're the man, early bird gets the worm!

Side note. I've never been a sticks guys (only WE stepps), is there a good standard aider for the LWCG Mini's? Fixed or movable?

Man, I would look at a CAYG aider. Easy to make and easy to adjust

Just tried out the stand.... Caming it is tricky. The bolt did not bend. It's comfortable as heck. It does move a little side to side but does not make any noise that I can tell. I also weigh 260. I dig how the teeth digs into the tree.

Still waiting on the bolt replacement as i have like most a bent bolt. The only other bolt that seems off center is my adjustment bolt. I also have a washer that is getting crushed even though the holes seem centered. Ill have to look at that closer. Camming is difficult in comparison to say the predator and idk if it was the tree i was on but it held side pressure well one direction but not the other. Weird never had this with any platform before.

When you guys go to "cam it over" don't do it like a normal treestand where you cram the platform down on into the tree.

I've had the Lone wolf alpha for 10yrs so I just assumed that I'd attach the Ambush to the tree in the same way, and when I talked with Andrae he told me how to set up this platform correctly, as I was doing it wrong.

Get your strap tight and push the platform down to snug up the strap, then lift the platform and re-tighten the strap to really snug it up, then pull the platform AWAY from the tree so that you can get the platform flat BEFORE letting it settle against the tree. You want to make sure that the adjustment bolt is completely settled on the platform.

Once I did it this way the Ambush is rock solid no matter how I push on it (even on the backside) and there is no noise etc... I'm totally enjoying this platform now that I know how to cam it over correctly.
