Well there are two days left in firearms deer season and the usual time I stop deer hunting and shift to ducks. When I got coffee this morning, and looked at all my crap scattered around, I realized how successful this season has been.
I was able to take two disabled veterans on deer hunts, shots were fired at both, and two deer were taken. Both veterans expressed how grateful they were and how much of a blessing the hunts were. One of the hunts will be aired on a future television show on the pursuit channel.
My family was able to supply three different families with venison for their freezer. That was a blessing for us to give to these families and a tremendous act of generosity on my kids part( they gave their deer away).
I was able to hunt with both my kids on several hunts. My father in law and brother in law were able to join us too. My son shot a small buck and my daughter shot a big doe.
I started filming hunts this year and was able to get video of my daughter shooting her deer. I was able to get enough footage to do my first YouTube videos albeit they need a lot of work.
There is still a muzzleloader and antlerless season left to go here in MO. I usually don’t hunt those but we’ll see. All in all I’d say this season has been a great success and I’ve not filled a single tag of my own. Oh yes, and I bought my first legit tree saddle this season! Life is good.
