what are the name of the aluminum gaffs that they used to sell back in the day. they were small only mid calf high and fairly inexpensive. quik climbers?? ezy climbers??? I can't remember.

They aren’t aluminum just stamped steel. You will need good boots and strong ankles. I have a 20 year old set somewhere. I never could climb with them. I never tried them with a stiff snake boot. That may have worked. The ones I have weren’t even mid calf. They aren’t any taller than a 9” boot.

Yeah I have a pair. I pull them out and play around with them from time to time.

I have a set too. They really hurt your ankles, but they are probaly the absolute lightest climbing method you can get. I dont think they weigh much more then a pound for both.

I filed the points to make them a little sharper and on softer trees they aren't to bad.

Their website says under 3lbs. There’s definitely not much too them.

I've never used climbing spurs before and I really want to go that route eventually, just don't think I can justify the funds right now (convince the wife!)... Having said that would you advise against these and go regular climbing spurs or would these be okay? Opinions/advice either way are welcome. Thanks

Tim W...the problem with these is they are so short all the pressure is placed on your ankles,where "real" spurs spread it over your lower leg,much more comfortable.

Thanks archerskill and tapeworm, kinda what I was thinking but was hoping/wishing it would be a good option... lol Guess I'll take the advice and wait to purchase a legit pair.
