May 11th @ Sleepy Hollow it is. This will be the same as the last 2 years, 3 I think but I wasn't around for that one.

I'm working on a plan to help utilize the space available a little better than we have been, I think it will work out pretty good assuming things go more or less as they have in the past two years.

Sorry for being an absentee organizer, as life does everything has to happen all at once

Without double checking we've been meeting in sort of a late morning time slot if I recall correctly to allow for drive time. I'll start with suggesting 11 a.m., let's sort that out and get this finalized

I haven't been to one of these yet. What kind of stuff are you guys doing at this event?
First one was at ft.Custer in battle Creek. @DanO brought some cool stuff to look at. @boyne bowhunter put on a good one sticking show.

The ones at sleepy hollow have been more everyone brings their stuff. Gave you a chance to try stuff out that was there. I think we had most of the newer stuff last year. I couldn't stay long for the last one but wanted to.
Try stuff, talk methods and ideas with other guys. Good time.
Talk about deer hunting in May.
@Horn are you thinking about setting some demo times? Or just set different things on trees to try.

If anything it's a good group of guys hanging out.

We can definitely do some scheduled events if there's desire to do so. It would help make sure no one misses anything. Or we can set up a station or two and just use a wanted.

I thought of this specifically with rappelling. If I set up at least one tree with sticks and a platform it would really streamline things if guys are wanting to give it a go. Test out F8, madrock, gri-gri ect.

Having a rope in the tree the whole time in one spot would also probably help if we want to talk self rescue or similar. Good spot to demo SRT too for those that haven't ventured that far.

Edit: So I think my original scheme was 2 trees ready to climb / rap on. North of the typical spot ( I think. I'll try to attach a picture for feedback.) I don't think the trees I have in mind are perfect but I also think it's value added if we get into a less than ideal situation. We're all at different places and it seems likely that others have had good ideas we may choose to try/use ourselves.

All just ideas, I'm flexible. Let's talk it over, we'll get the most bang for our buck that way. Organized or just hanging out are totally cool with me lol

Thanks for the assistance too

I was thinking we could add a small area for equipment selling or trades. I know I have some things I'd like to get rid of and if I don't have to advertise and pay for shipping all the better.

So the layout is something, sort of  , like this. The main drive is the bottom middle part, and we've all been parking at the P on the left side. There's also a bigger parking area to the right. If recall there is a small building marked B ( Bathrooms? I don't know)

We all pretty much congregate at the 3 dots in the loop on the left. It's been working out pretty good, but more trees would be better.

When I did my last drive through I thought there were a few trees on the top of my drawing, the two dots outside the loop( north I think but I'm not sure, north on my map lol), that I thought were huntable trees. Not really nice ideal trees, but trees I would climb if I were hunting and that's where I wanted to be.

Those are the trees / area I was thinking we might put a couple stations or use to do some of the demo type things. We've all seen everything on a telephone pole, and that's fine. We can still do that. I think it would be good conversation starter and we might learn something if we get on those less than ideal trees.

Please, chime in with thoughts

Just curious, is that map drawn to scale? lol jk

Cool with me.

I know I'm asking for a lot of input y'all, but it is a group effort.

My first thought is tailgates and I believe there are a few picnic tables. If there's interest we can probably find a couple tables to use.

I will be back over to SH to make sure I know what I'm talking about for this meet up.

Another question I have for the group is do we have any ladies or young'ins? I will get ahold of either @DanO or @always89y to be sure we have a smaller saddle if there's any interest. I guess you could just be a smaller dude too, I mean no offense

If I remember those two trees are really large in diameter . . . larger than I would climb. I might be wrong though.

I glanced when leaving last time. Part of me thinks their was some climbable trees back towards the entrance. Not sure how far.
I may be wrong. There is a pit toilet there as well. I think if you walk the trail that goes out the left side had some trees as well. But it's just not right next to the parking lot. There was some nice strait ones if I remember. But looked like it could be a wet area if their is some rain before hand. Also more bugs in the woods if the weather is warm.

I could be wrong too, I just did a real quick drive through last time I went to check it out. I will get back over there before the meet up and spend a little time to see if I if it's actually a workable plan

Bump. Sorry for doing it twice, I'm disorganized.

I am curious if there's interest in having a smaller saddle available , kid /women's, no offense to any one who might be less than huge. We're about a month out so I need to get on that sort of thing if there's interest in it.

Haven't made it to check trees yet but Saturday is prime for me to do so, unless I bail early to go to my family for the holiday. I'm unsure but I'll get there next weekend if I don't make it this one.

Did you pick a date and time @Horn
I think you settled on sleepy hollow..maybe modify the thread title to the new date and time. Or create a new one..
