Milkweed pouches

Another thought was to add a grommet probably 1/4" inside diameter to the center side of the pouches mesh so if one wants to pull from the side they can. I'm not a milkweed expert but a full piece will be easier to see at a farther distance. Tell me what you guys think?

Thanks Bryan

That sounds interesting. Like a little tiny Kleenex box lol.

No the original idea is to pull fibers thru the mesh, less messing around that way. Shawn

Still waiting on a different mesh but did install a 1/4" grommet and all in all it works pretty good I fed a few dozen pieces through with no problem until you find a void in how the seeds are intertwined than you need to thread the seed through the grommet and you're back in business. I feel like the next size grommet would be perfect. On order so to be continued thanks for your feedback. Pics of 1/4"grommet.

Are you gonna try the next sized grommet and post how it works?

Edit: never mind you said to be continued.

Received some ghillie suit mesh it has a slightly larger hole size than that of the pouches being sold by THP(butterfly effect). It is more durable but still not very user friendly to get the fluff through the holes in fact it was a pain to get that stuff through the holes of the mesh. The mesh is oval shaped 3/16"x 1/8".

I have 3/8" grommets on the way will update on Monday. IMO the grommet will be the easiest and best option to extract milkweed. To be continued!!

I de-seed the MW I use. I think the 1/4 would work just fine. Let us know

I deleted my last post. Didn't realize this was a classifieds post. Thought it was general discussion about milkweed pouches. Didn't want to hijack this fellas efforts to sell.

I tried the larger mesh and besides the fact it's almost impossible to sew without a walking foot sewing machine it's going to tear if you contact briers! It's very similar to the commercial pouches available but I think it is a tad bit better. Ordered 3/8 grommets but they sent me 1/4" somehow?!? So waiting to receive them tomorrow. To be continued!

Received 3/8" brass grommets and IMO it's great for both feeding milkweed if you hit a void and also only allowing one piece out at a time. Here's a pic

Nice. Can I get 2 of them without the key ring. I'm gonna just put a piece of paracord on there. I'll pm you if your ready to sell them. Thanks.

That looks good and very functional. The center may be the best place for the grommet. When you load the pouch with Milkweed where does the fibers like to bunch up in the pouch? If it’s not dead in the center maybe the Grommet could be shifted To where the fibers like to live when in the pouch...... maybe the center is the best place....I was just thinking out loud.

The mesh and the size of the pouch keeps the fibers pretty much in place even when shaking the pouch. If you shake it like the old mercury thermometers than they do shift some but that's not typical of normal use. The best part that I like is you can work new fiber through the hole if you hit a void or work the fiber towards middle but great question never thought about them gathering in a spot.
