I bought the hawk hangout to use as a platform and needless to say from factory it pretty well sucked! I added the brackets to help it grip the tree better but because of the way it was designed it still wanted to pull the top bracket away from the tree and let it move unless you tightened the ratchet strap down a ton. The goal was to figure out how to make it smaller and utilize a cam over action so I could use a much quieter pull type strap and it be really stable and grip the tree well. Well mission accomplished. I bought the seat at menards for $30. Used about a foot of scrap angle iron and mini oxy/act torch kit and filler rod to weld the brackets on. I tested it on a slick bark oak and its ROCK solid! I still plan to purchase or build a platform made from aluminum to cut the weight down but in the mean time this one will work awesome!IMG_20191021_201447_070.jpgIMG_20191021_201447_074.jpgIMG_20191021_201447_067.jpgFB_IMG_1571707500082.jpg
